Up for sale is my 2005 Evo 8. Please read this BEFORE bidding!! This car is heavily modified. The engine is a 2.3L stroked motor which has recently failed. I have not torn down the engine yet, and so far the best guess is that the engine has a spun bearing and needs work. Other than this issue, the car has been redone in the past 6 months. The car went through an engine overhaul prior to this failure which included the following:

ACL Race Rod Bearings
ACL Race Main Bearings
Wiseco HD 2.3 stroker pistons
Manley Turbo Tuff I beam stroker lightweight rods
New OEM squirters
New OEM Freeze plugs
New OEM Engine gasket kit
Power enterprise coated stopper head gasket
New ACT 6 puck sprung clutch

The engine was recently machined- bore, hone, align, degreased.

Head was rebuilt with the following:
New GSC R2 stroker cames
Head rebuild, degrease, valve job, new valve seals and valve springs
MAP Ultimate Duty Springs and Retainers.

Aside from this, the car has the following mods-
Forced Performance Black Turbo w/25psi wastegate
FP Intake
Turbo Trix Stage 2 Trans
JNZ Tuning Transfer case and Rear
AMS Race Intercooler
AMS Intercooler Pipes
Aeromotive 340lph fuel pump
FIC 1000cc injectors
FIC Race Fuel Rail
Ported and polished intake manifold
Ported throttle body
Mishimoto radiator
DNP turbo manifold
Megan 02 housing
HKS SSQV Blow off valve
JM Fab Oil Catch Can
Stainless steel upper and lower clutch lines

Car has new (within 1300 Miles) brakes pads and rotors (Girodisc Magic Pads F/R, Rotorpros Performance Rotors F/R) Techna-fit Stainless steel brake lines. New BFG KDW tires.
This car has been tuned for speed density, and has a dual map setup for fuel. One tune is for 93 octane and the other is for C16. There is a switch in the glove box, when race fuel is engaged, there is a light in the center of the dash to signal you are on the race map.

This car has the SSL package with the leather seats. The sunroof is disabled due to a bad track. This was quoted for replacement by the local dealership at $125 repair. The car also has newly installed stock HID Bulbs.

The car only runs Brad Penn Oil. I switch between the heavier and lighter oils for summer and winter. Currently the car has been running race gas only (C16)

I am sure there are modifications I am missing, but I do have about 90% of the original receipts for the car. This car has been recently on the dyno and on lower boost it made over 550awhp. The injectors cannot handle much more and were slated to be replaced before the motor spun a bearing.

This car can be fixed up, and back on the road with over 600hp once the new injectors are installed and re-tuned. I have no time for this project and want this thing gone ASAP. If there is an questions please message me and I will do my best to answer as soon as I can.

Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.

Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding? 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander shows its new nose

Fri, Mar 20 2015

Mitsubishi is already using its 2015 New York Auto Show invitation to tease the new nose on the refreshed 2016 Outlander, but the changes aren't too easy to spot in that stylized shot. Now, thanks to a photographer in Japan, we have a better chance to see what the redesign really looks like. Based on this image and the invitation, we can clearly see that the refresh is liberally borrowing from the styling of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S from the 2014 Paris Motor Show. They share a chrome-outlined, X-shaped grille with two bars on top to connect the headlights, and a gloss black panel in the center provides some visual contrast. The only major change seems to be the foglight design that loses its LED embellishments on the production version compared to the show car. According to Indian Autos Blog, this Outlander was snapped while waiting at port in Japan, and the photo was posted by a user on the blogging site Livedoor. We will get a full look at the refreshed crossover at its debut in New York on April 2.
