It's finally time to sell my beloved Evo.  I've owned this car for quite some time now and at one point contemplated selling it, but instead decided to build it even more than it was and make a complete animal.  I succeeded.

What you're going to be purchasing is one of the most immaculate, well cared for Evos in the Midwest that has had ZERO expenses spared along the way.  I've built numerous cars in the past and never take the short road just to save a quick buck.  I made the mistake when purchasing this car of buying it from someone who took shortcuts and spent the first couple months sorting everything out.  I then decided to build it and turn it into the ultimate street and track monster that would destroy most bikes and anything else it came across while still handling like a GTR.  You'll find that most Evo's are owned by the younger crowd that lets things go until they break when this car was the exact opposite.  Anytime any sort of maintenance even came into slight question, the car was at the shop getting it fixed.  I never waited for anything and always bought top of the line parts for the car.

All of the work has been done by an extremely reputable shop in the IL area.  I will disclose full details, receipts, and everything to an interested party and am more than willing to arrange a PPI for anyone who would like at the facility of your choice.  I have absolutely nothing to hide and welcome it!  I know I get all of my cars PPI'd as well.

The Evo is currently tuned on E85 with two different tunes.  There is the daily, low boost tune that makes 500AWHP and then the kill tune which makes 750AWHP.  I have two ECU's available, the factory ECU that will pass emissions with ease and a standalone Autronic ECU which will offer you a little more power and customization, but will not pass emissions in some states.  You can have your pick of either depending on your needs for the car.

Over the last two years I've thrown about 30K (I have receipts for every single bolt on the car + build pictures as well) at the car to make it the ultimate street and track toy.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it to the track this year as I've been traveling 20+ days out of the month, but for anyone who is looking for a road course monster, this is it.

Onto the parts list!

This Mitsubishi Colt Galant is a GTO from Japan

Fri, Sep 18 2015

The letters GTO have been used by several automakers – each from different countries. Depending on where your automotive enthusiasm is centered, you might associate the name with Pontiac or with Ferrari. But those weren't the only ones to use those letters. So did Mitsubishi. In fact, the 3000GT (also known as the Dodge Stealth) that competed with the likes of the Toyota Supra and Nissan 300ZX back in the 1990s was sold as the GTO back home in Japan. But Mitsu didn't pull that name out of nowhere. It was merely the revival of an old nameplate. Back in the 1970s, Mitsubishi used those letters on a version of the Colt, of all things. And that's what Petrolicious has profiled in this latest video. This Seventies-era Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO GSR belongs to one Matt De Mangos, an enthusiast, collector, and consummate tinkerer out in California who fell in love with the vintage pocket rocket. Since the Colt Galant GTO was designed for the Japanese Domestic Market, few ever made it to other markets. So De Mangos imported one privately to the United States, and invested a lot of time into researching and restoring the vehicle. The result may not be the usual classic you'd expect to see an American hot-rodder restoring, but that's apparently just the way Matt likes it. Hear his story in the video above.

The 100,000th EV sold in the US is... a Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

The news here isn't that 100,000 EVs have been sold in the US, although that's quite the accomplishment. It's that the 100,000th car is a Mitsubishi i-MiEV - a car that takes nearly a full day to recharge on a standard outlet and can only travel about 62 miles per charge (according to the car's Monroney).
Jabs at the Mitsubishi aside, the fact that US dealers have moved 100,000 electric cars is made more impressive in that it's only been done since the latest generation of EVs arrived, typified by the Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and aforementioned i-MiEV. Chronologically, that means roughly the last two years. It's a number that we can only expect to climb, as EVs gain a stronger foothold among manufacturers and consumers.
Plug In America, an EV advocacy group, crunched the numbers for a contest called #PIA100K, to find the lucky buyer, who would be given a ClipperCreek Level 2 charger (which takes the i-MiEV's recharge time down to just seven hours). The winner, Rich Salmon of Grand Bay, Alabama, picked up his i-MiEV from Pete Moore Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Mirage fuel economy challenge winner duct tapes his way to 74.1 MPG

Fri, Mar 14 2014

There's a lesson to be learned from the Mitsubishi Motors' Extreme MPG Hypermiling Challenge: if you want to get your 2014 Mirage to get over 74 miles per gallon, apply duct tape. During the recent event, which ran from Las Vegas, NV to Cypress, CA (where Mitsubishi has its North American HQ), a number of journalists were "allowed to make very minor modifications to their cars from production form." Their solution was to put some colored duct tape over some of the gaps in the front fascia sheetmetal as a way to try and reduce aerodynamic drag. A combination of expertly applied sky blue tape on a Kiwi Green Mirage and careful driving allowed About.com's Aaron Gold to reach 74.1 mpg in the contest. That beat out Popular Mechanics' Mike Austin (driving a Plasma Purple Mirage) and Autobytel's Joni Gray (Sapphire Blue) who tied for second with an average mpg rating of 68.5. The $12,995 car's official EPA fuel economy ratings are 37 city/44 highway/40 combined (continuously-variable transmission model). You can read the Autoblog review of the '14 Mirage here, check out the press release below and keep an eye out for a 30-minute video version of the event on Cars.TV soon. About.com's Aaron Gold Crowned the Winner in Mitsubishi Motors' Extreme MPG Hypermiling Challenge by Achieving an Amazing 74.1 MPG in his 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage Cypress, California, March 13, 2014 – Aaron Gold of About.com, with an astounding fuel efficiency of 74.1 mpg driving his Kiwi Green 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage, finished today with the highest MPG in the Mitsubishi Motors Extreme MPG Hypermiling Challenge. Following Aaron in the 275-mile trek from Las Vegas, Nevada to the Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) headquarters in Cypress, California was Mike Austin from Popular Mechanics in his Plasma Purple Mirage and Joni Gray of Autobytel in her Sapphire Blue Mirage. Amazingly, both Mike and Joni tied with an average fuel economy rating of 68.5 mpg. "This was such an exciting event, to have such knowledgeable colleagues in our industry to push the limit to see how high of an MPG can be achieved in our 2014 Mirage," stated Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of MMNA. "I never figured I'd come in over 70 MPG!" said winner Aaron Gold of About.com. "All three of us kept our speeds down; I think keeping my eyes way down the road, planning ahead and avoiding sudden changes of speed was what gave me the edge.
