For sale is my 2003 Evolution VIII. I’m the second owner of this car; I purchased it from an older gentleman in Rhode Island back in 2010. It was pretty much stock when I bought it, besides a Buschur Racing exhaust and a reflash. It’s been garaged in the winter ever since I’ve owned it and minimal miles have been put on it each year since it’s been in my possession – I work from home so, this is pretty much my weekend pleasure car.
Last summer my buddy who owns a local shop convinced me to go all out, build the motor and add a bunch more power…needless to say, it didn’t take much convincing, so I gave him the go ahead to tear it down. I didn’t have him build it because there was a problem with the motor – it was running 100% before the overhaul. Joey, my mechanic was actually amazed in how good of condition the motor was it when he took it apart. The pistons, rings, bearings and cylinders were all it top shape (I have the original pistons that will go with the sale so you can see for yourself). What I’m getting at, is that this car was properly cared for and maintained through the years.
After the build, which was completed in June 2012 I had a local dyno shop break-in the new motor with a pre-set 5 stage break-in process on his hub dyno. Once the motor was properly broken in, I took it down to Ivey Tune in New Jersey and had Sean Ivey do a proper tune on it. It’s somewhat conservative with more power left on the table if someone chooses to squeeze more out of it.
I tracked the car once at a NHMS road coarse event last summer and the car performed flawlessly – no issues what-so-ever and it was a blast to drive, almost scary fast. Everything runs 100% now and needs nothing. Oil and filter changes every 2000 miles or less with Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic 5w 40. The only small gripes I have with the car would be the rattling throw-out bearing you can sometimes hear on decal (which is normal) and a few minor cosmetic blemishes such is very small paint nicks on the hood and front bumper, only noticeable up close and couple of the Brembo’s are faded a bit . This is a race car, not a luxury vehicle so if you want luxury, I suggest you look elsewhere.
My reason for selling is due to unexpected family issues. If could keep it I would and I’ll hate to see it go after all the time and money I just put into it. Below is the list of Mods. I have ton of money in parts, labor, and tuning invested. All parts are brand new and were installed at 77,854 miles. There’s currently less than 83,000 miles on the odometer. Most everything was purchased through MAPerformance – a vendor on this site.

Mitsubishi Mirage configurator is alive
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Well, here's the butter knife Mitsubishi is bringing to the subcompact gun fight. It's called the Mirage, and its configurator has just gone live on Mitsubishi's consumer page, allowing those that absolutely must have a brand-new car for not a lot of money (and have never heard of the Nissan Versa, Mazda2, Chevrolet Spark or Ford Fiesta) to build their perfect example.
Prices start at $12,995 for a base DE model with a five-speed manual transmission and $14,195 for the up-market ES with the same transmission. A 74-horsepower, 1.2-liter engine is the sole powerplant. Both trims feature a continuously variable transmission for an extra $1,000 and a range of eight exterior colors, while black is the sole interior color.
Fully loaded with all the assorted packages - there are 10 on the ES model, adding things like navigation, a backup camera and LED ambient lights - the Mirage checks out at $19,540. Feel free to have a go at the configurator yourself.
2014 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Practice Day 1
Wed, 25 Jun 2014This year the big news about the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is about who isn't showing up. Sebastien Loeb, fresh off his record setting run last year, hasn't bothered coming back (and probably won't unless someone breaks his record). The Millen family is also noticeably absent. Rhys and Rod have been driving here for the past couple of decades but it looks like Rhys is focusing his efforts on Global RallyCross.
Last year Pikes Peak added a fourth practice day on Tuesday to allow drivers to get more time on the mountain. It's an optional practice day, but most drivers show up.
Today, both Time Attack divisions (1 and 2) as well as Unlimited division drove the lower third of the mountain. Pikes Peak Open, Open Wheel, Electric Production, Electric Modified, Exhibition and Vintage all practiced on the middle section, and bikes power sports did the top section.
Europe on track to buy more PHEVs than hybrids by 2019
Mon, Apr 27 2015LMC Automotive, formerly the forecasting division of J.D. Power & Associates, predicts that plug-in hybrids will sell better than conventional hybrids by 2019. By 2021, it envisions PHEV sales at 600,000 units yearly compared to 325,000 standard hybrid sales, and by 2024 PHEV sales are expected to account for 1.2 million sales every year. Part of LMC's prediction is based on a few factors, such as that it believes "electric-only operation will come to be seen as a true luxury characteristic and will be prized sufficiently to command significant premiums." Certain PHEVs are helped in countries like the UK and The Netherlands by generous incentives or other perks, like avoiding inner London's congestion charge, that allow them to address their price differences compared to standard offerings. And the number of PHEVs on the market will soon eclipse regular hybrids, coming from makers across the spectrum. Volvo has twice recently, and only belatedly, learned of the popularity of PHEVs: in 2013 it had to triple production of the V60 PHEV, and just this month it said demand for its XC90 PHEV is four times expectations. The Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid is outselling the traditional hybrid Panamera by more than seven-to-one. And then there's Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Europe's best-selling PHEV with 19,855 units, a volume more than three times larger than the second-best seller. Although LMC sees hybrid growth slowing, they're still doing well. Toyota and Lexus build the top-five selling traditional hybrids in Europe, combining for 72 percent of European sales, with the new Auris and Yaris hybrids alone selling 123,506 units in 2014. For LMC's forecast to come true, Europe will need a spectacular change in buying habits, since the top ten conventional hybrids tallied 175,847 sales in 2014, and the top ten PHEVs rang up 36,138 sales.
