Shepherd, Texas, United States

The truck for sale is a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero LS 4x4. These are getting hard to find and becoming quite sought after ( this is no common Montero Sport  )

This truck has a 3.5L V6 , automatic transmission and super-select 4WD.
Clean Texas title under my name. Drives straight and smooth down the road. Its 100% dependable and runs like a champ ,Texas inspection and registration are good until 2015. It has all new O2 sensors , new alternator , new battery , new ignition switch and a new starter. Timing belt was done at 120K miles. There are no check engine lights , no warning light of any kind. It has 170K miles and is driven daily. I have another 1996 Montero SR so I am an enthusiast of these trucks and this one has always been very well taken cared of. It's been my faithful daily driver for two years and its never left me stranded. These trucks are known for their toughness and dependability. The engines can run well into the 300K+ miles with proper maintenance.
Super select 4x4 systems works exactly as it should. It engages in and out out of all the modes perfectly fine and functions perfect.
It has power windows ( one of the rears stick ), power locks , power mirrors , power steering , cold AC , hot heater , tinted windows , a HUGE working sunroof , dual airbags , CD/MP3/USB Pioneer radio with upgraded component speakers , rear window wiper , and all basic creature comforts you would need. I have a set of side steps that go with the truck as well.
Interior is 100% there and functional. It has cloth seats in very good shape. Overall I would say its a good 8-10 inside.
It has seating for 7 (3 rows of cloth seats) The third row of seats can be folded out of the way for extra storage. Removed completely if not needed or left in for lugging the whole family around.
The truck comes with a set of 245/75/15 with less then 5000 miles / 2 months on them. I've got the warranty and receipt for the tires. (the tires pictures with the snow are All Terrains that will not go with the truck)  33s will fit on this truck as is with no modifications or parts. 35s fit with little work.

Now like any 17 year old vehicle this truck is not perfect. Lucky these issues don't effect you much.

1) Cruise control does not work. I think its just the switch because it does not light up when you push it.
2) Small dent on the front chrome bumper and a quarter size dent on the front right fender.
3) Paint on the hood and roof is not as nice as the rest of the truck. Looks like the previous owner tried to color match paint with a rattle can. It doesn't look horrible but it worth mentioning.
4) Burns about a qt. of oil every 3000-4000 miles ( leaky valve guide seals are super common on these ) Doesn't harm anything or effect how this truck runs.

That's pretty much it.
This can easily be a A to B vehicle to drive to work everyday but I think it deserves to be in the hands of an enthusiast who will take it to more then just the mall.
I've taken this truck to Colorado for vacation with my family 3 times already without a hiccup. It wheels in the snow better then anything I've ever driven. Eats up trails with the best of them.
I feel completely confident that you can get in this truck today and drive it home anywhere in the country without any issues.

Truck is located in Shepherd , TX (45 minutes North of Houston)
I am not responsible for transportation of the vehicle if the buyer is not local but I'd be glad to help as much as I can.
Truck does not come with license plates if buyer is not local.
Title is clean and under my name. I will also include a professionally typed bill of sale.

Feel free to message me with any questions.
Thanks

Self-driving Mitsubishis could use adapted missile technology

Thu, Mar 31 2016

Mitsubishi is a big company made up of many different divisions and subsidiaries. Yeah, we tend to focus on Mitsubishi Motors, but the sprawling company also manufactures steel, builds televisions – we all knew someone in the 1990s with a hulking Mitsubishi "big screen" – and even screws together fighter jets and the missiles they carry. According to a report from Automotive News Europe, Mitsubishi Motors is hoping to leverage the capabilities of its sister companies to catch up to the competition and get driverless cars on the road by 2020. That means adapting millimeter-wave radars, sensors, and cameras built for missiles to automotive uses. As Mitsubishi sees it, having the development work done on this tech – albeit for a radically different application – gives it a big advantage over the competition. "All we have to do is to put together the components that we already have," Katsumi Adachi, the chief engineer for Mitsu's auto equipment division, told ANE. "None of our competitors have such a wide array of capabilities." As ANE goes on to explain with the help of Tokyo-based IHS analyst Goro Tanamachi, this is no plug-and-play application. That's largely because of the different economics of the automotive and defense industries. In the former, the bean counters have a tremendous say. There are cuts and cost reductions and all sorts of other stuff designed to maximize profit margins. The defense industry, though, is the land of sparing no expense – that, according to Tanamachi-san, could make adapting missile tech to autonomous vehicles a possible, but potentially very pricey proposition. "Cost-cutting requests are much more severe in autos than aerospace," Tanamachi-san told ANE. "I wonder if it's possible for them to bring down the cost of the systems to the levels manufacturers can use for cheap, low-end cars." Related Video: X

Mitsubishi and Renault-Nissan expand partnership, US will get new sedan

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Mitsubishi and Renault-Nissan have just inked an alliance that might, hopefully, reverse the ailing fortunes of the Mitsubishi brand in the US market. The big chunk of news is that Mitsubishi will produce two Renualt-based models for sale in the US market, and that they'll be built at the Renault-Samsung factory in Busan, South Korea.
The plans call for a D-segment sedan to be followed by a C-segment offering. Based on the cars built at the Busan factory, that means Mitsubishi will be getting the SM5 and the SM3, a pair of handsome sedans that are based on Renault-Nissan's D and C platforms, respectively. These same platforms underpin a number of US market Nissans (not to mention a number of cars from Renault), namely the Pathfinder, Maxima, Quest and Murano for the D platform and the last-generation Rogue and Sentra for the C platform.
Besides the sedan production, Nissan and Mitsubishi will be expanding their joint-venture company, NMKV, which produces Kei cars for the Japanese market. A new, all-electric offering will be born from the partnership, likely based on a Kei car platform. The partnership between the three brands will also lead to increased sharing of technology, particularly relating to electric cars.

Japanese earthquakes send ripples through auto industry

Mon, Apr 18 2016

The earthquakes since April 14 in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu are having aftershocks on the US auto industry, particularly for Toyota. The company shut down most of its factories in the country due to parts shortages, and the plants will be closed at least through April 23. "Decisions regarding recommencement of operation at plants in Japan will be made on the basis of availability of parts," the company said in a statement. According to Automotive News, Toyota's closed factories include a vast range of popular models in the US, including the Toyota Prius, Mirai, RAV4, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Lexus ES, LS, IS, GS, RC, NX, RX, GX, and LX. The company's only sites in Japan that are still open build Hino trucks, Daihatsu models, and the Toyota Century limo. Toyota isn't yet sure whether these shutdowns could lead to vehicle shortages in the US. "As you can imagine, we are still reviewing the situation and working to learn more," company spokesperson Aaron Fowles told Autoblog. "While we know that production will be suspended in stages at most of our vehicle assembly facilities in Japan between April 18th and the 23rd, we do not know if they will continue production suspensions. Also, any effects to our inventory and/or sales have yet to be determined." He expects the automaker to know more in the coming days. Many of the affected Toyota plants aren't even in Kumamoto Prefecture, but major suppliers have factories in the region. For example, Aisin Seiki and Renesas Electronics both had to shutdown operations at plants in the area, according to Automotive News. Toyota isn't the only automaker affected. Nissan experienced a brief slowdown but was back to work on Monday, and Honda has suspended a motorcycle plant in the region until Friday. Mitsubishi had to close a production line due to the parts shortage, according to The Japan Times, but it didn't affect US models. "A supplier to our Mizushima plant has been impacted but they only supply an engine part for our mini car line. That line has been temporarily shut down due to that situation," spokesperson Alex Fedorak told Autoblog. "That same plant builds the Lancer and i-MiEv and there has been no impact to that line and production continues uninterrupted." Two major quakes hit Kumamoto Prefecture around Kumamoto city in the past week. The first on April 14 measured 6.4 magnitude, and a second on April 16 measured 7.3.
