Item Description

Relisting due non paying bidder. Please only bid if you intent to pay and pick the car up in Warsaw, Indiana within 7 days after auction ends. NO RESERVE. Car has to go. Again, this auction is for a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. 2.0L turbo engine, 5 speed transmission and 107,228 miles. It has full fiberglass body kit (not molded). 3” downpipe and Apexi exhaust. 18” Motegi Racing SP10 wheels. One wheel is bent but didn’t seem to cause vibrations and does not leak air. It has boost, volt, narrowband air/fuel and oil pressure gauges. Has unknown brand front mount intercooler with stock T25 turbo. It’s lowered with red lowering springs which I was told are Eibach brand. It comes with an amplifier and a 10” sub. It is wired with 4 gauge wire if you wish to install a bigger system. AC compressor, some emission stuff and cruise control have been removed by previous owner. I will include cruise controls mechanisms, the original driver’s seat, matching passenger racing seat and the original steering wheel with air bag. Car runs and drives but makes loud tapping noises inside the cylinder head at idle once it warms up. Sound goes away after 1k rpm. It was originally red but is now flat black which isn’t pretty. It needs painted. I bought this car more than a year ago in worse shape than it is in now. It was kept in a storage unit most of the time I had it and only drove it to gas station and car wash once or twice. I saw great potential in this and was going to make it my first paint job with the original red color but it’s been too long. It’s time to let go. Winter is coming and I don’t want to keep paying for storage. Someone with a garage could make this their winter project and finish it in the color he or she wants. I took it out of storage, did compression test, took it to the car wash and drove it around town for about an hour. Compression is at 180, 178, 170 and 186 psi. Car drove fine but noise at idle needs to be fixed ASAP because it’s embarrassing at stop lights. Sunroof may need new motor and doesn’t seal properly. It leaked after car wash. It has CEL codes P1500, P0443, P0505, P1105, P1104 and the windshield is cracked. When I bought the car the title was already signed to someone else. I also comes with a bill of sale. It is a clean title. The VIN number is 4A3AK54FXSE224521. I recommend towing the car home but if you wish to drive it home you’re on your own. This time I will park the car at the Warsaw Kmart parking lot for those that wish to see it in person. If you want to hear it run and bring your mechanic to check it out before bidding just let me know. I'm available Monday-Friday from around 4pm till 8 and whenever on the weekend.

Mitsubishi Attrage brochure reveals additional looks, info

Thu, 23 May 2013

If you're keen to get a closer look at the upcoming Mitsubishi Attrage global sedan, we've got good news for you. A handful of brochure images have made their way to the web courtesy of IndianAutosBlog.com, complete with driveline details. The compact car looks to have its teeth set on taking a chunk out of the Nissan Versa. The Attrage will launch in Thailand with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine good for 76 horsepower coupled to either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The combination should yield a range of around 570 miles with an 11 gallon tank. We'll save you the math: that's over 50 miles per gallon, though we wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful, less efficient engine show up on the US-spec model. Buyers can also enjoy snazzy 15-inch alloy wheels.
Expect to find a rearview camera, push-button start, Bluetooth audio and automatic climate control indoors. This information gives us a pretty good idea of what we can expect from the car once it touches down here in the US, though final details - including powertrain - remain likely to change somewhat.

DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.

Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move

Tue, Dec 6 2016

With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
