1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt Vr-4 Coupe 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Robesonia, Pennsylvania, United States
So I bought this last year with hopes of bringing it back to perfect condition but work wont allow me to do so. I bought a new AC comp. installed it and then found out that it was the reason the AC didnt work, the reason was a climate control box under the glove box (found a few on here for like 15$) I jumped the presure switches to ground and got cold air but never got the black box. i put a newer wing on it necause I liked the looks of it better. and was gonna do the newer front end but never bought one. the ECU took a dump shortly after I got the car, so I replaced the whole ign system. the ecu is customized by a guy online who upgrades the 2nd gen ones it has the plug and play harness and you can buy a 50$ cable and download the software to tune the car to meet the needs of bigger turbos injectors cams etc. the guys name I dont remember but I can look it up most who know about these cars already know who Im talking about. The exterior isnt perfect but is about a 7/10 as is the interior. it wouldnt take much to bring both back to almost perfect. just a couple of odds and ends and a paint job. I have all the factory parts I took off including the AC comp that wasnt bad. the cars starts runs and drives perfect the all wheel drive and 4 wheel steering works as it should also. However the Lifters just started to tick like they always do so I changed the oil to synthetic and it seemed to help. I did buy some but the idiot at the parts store only ordered half of them. I have 18 inch aftermarket wheels with tires and eibach lowering springs, that will come with the car. i will be removing the stereo except for the door speakers, and including the factor tape and cd player but I dont have the code to unlock them. never did. |

The 100,000th EV sold in the US is... a Mitsubishi i-MiEV
Fri, 12 Jul 2013The news here isn't that 100,000 EVs have been sold in the US, although that's quite the accomplishment. It's that the 100,000th car is a Mitsubishi i-MiEV - a car that takes nearly a full day to recharge on a standard outlet and can only travel about 62 miles per charge (according to the car's Monroney).
Jabs at the Mitsubishi aside, the fact that US dealers have moved 100,000 electric cars is made more impressive in that it's only been done since the latest generation of EVs arrived, typified by the Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and aforementioned i-MiEV. Chronologically, that means roughly the last two years. It's a number that we can only expect to climb, as EVs gain a stronger foothold among manufacturers and consumers.
Plug In America, an EV advocacy group, crunched the numbers for a contest called #PIA100K, to find the lucky buyer, who would be given a ClipperCreek Level 2 charger (which takes the i-MiEV's recharge time down to just seven hours). The winner, Rich Salmon of Grand Bay, Alabama, picked up his i-MiEV from Pete Moore Mitsubishi.
Toyota, Mazda drop Takata as Mitsubishi, Subaru weigh options
Sat, Nov 7 2015It's not a very good time to be Takata right now. Fresh on the heels of longtime partner Honda ditching them, Toyota and Mazda have both come out and said they will not use the company's airbag inflators if they continue to rely on ammonium nitrate. Bloomberg reports that Subaru and Mitsubishi are also contemplating a divorce. "The inflator using ammonium nitrate produced by Takata will not be adopted by Toyota," President Akio Toyoda said during a briefing today. "What's most important above anything else is the safety and peace of mind of customers." Mazda echoed that position, simply saying it "will not use Takata airbag inflators which contain ammonium nitrate in our new cars." When you lose three huge OEM accounts in as many days, it's certainly going to have a deleterious effect on your fortunes. In Takata's case, that's meant a staggering 39-percent drop in their share price over the last three days. Yesterday alone, the company saw a 6.2-percent fall, Bloomberg reports. As the business publication reports, though, Takata isn't going down without a fight. The company is "considering some plans to survive," including a fundraising plan that will see it potentially offer up additional shares for sale. Still, at least one analyst doesn't see whatever company survives staying involved in the airbag inflator business. "I really don't see how they're going to be able to survive as an inflator manufacturer," Valient Market Research founder Scott Upham told Bloomberg. "When your major clients publicly come out and say that they're not going to use your products anymore, it makes this very difficult to sustain your business." Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV US launch delayed over battery shortage
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Mitsubishi resumed full-scale battery production in August after a five-month shutdown due to a safety investigation. Supplier Lithium Energy Japan has been delivering 4,000 battery packs each month since September, but that's apparently still not enough to fill the overseas inventory pipeline for the Outlander PHEV and i subcompact EV while launching the Outlander PHEV here in the US. So instead of the previous tentative launch date of Fall 2014, the plug-in hybrid's Stateside on-sale date has been pushed back until 2015.
That's according to Automotive News, which also notes that Mitsubishi has sold 11,300 plug-in Outlanders this year, though that number reflects the production stoppage over the battery issues. As of April, battery supplier LEJ will be able to supply 5,000 packs per month just for the Outlander, but company president Osamu Masuko has gone on record saying that production will have to rise above that in order to make the US launch.
Every Mitsubishi dealer (and hopefully a fair number of consumers) will be looking forward to a crossover that, for the moment, doesn't really have natural rivals. The Outlander PHEV can drive 32 miles on electricity alone, has a top speed of 75 miles per hour in EV mode and offers all-wheel drive with a towing capacity of over 3,000 pounds. The model should get an impressive MPGe rating from the EPA when it finally arrives and it figures to be a bellwether for the plug-in Outlander Sport and Pajero utility vehicles that are expected to arrive after it. Hopefully 2015 will be its year.
