We bought this car in Las Vegas in approximately 2006, my wife (41 years old)   has used it as her daily driver since then, 99% of the time on pavement, 16 miles to and from work each day.      The car is in basically pretty good shape.  It has 145,xxx miles, and she still drives it every day. It has had regular oil changes using Mitsubishi filters and Castrol 10-40.  It has a sunroof you can either crank open or completely remove.  It has a nice sounding pioneer xm capable cd player, which goes thru two amps hidden in the back under the trunk floor, and has a custom built woofer box that is hard to see if you don't know its there, behind the back seat, with what looks like 10" size audiobahn speakers.  I don't know what all the other speakers are because I didn't have it installed, it was in the car when we bought the car.  It does ROCK.  It stays crystal clear PAST the point that your ears start to hurt.  It has 18" DeTata wheels, which were also on the car when we bought it. The car handles great and runs very well and is and has been very reliable.  The turbos spool up good and give the car quite a bit of power.  The  all wheel drive and all wheel steer systems work well. The active aero works so far as I know, we never use it though. The engine is completely stock except for a popoff valve on the turbos which was also added by the previous owner. There is no rust anywhere.  The exhaust may be performance, not sure, but it sounds really good. Seems like it is flowmaster but again, not sure. (Not loud though.) We got a carfax at the time of purchase, so I am sure the car will still check out good with carfax as it has been in no collisions or accidents. The tires are speed rated and getting worn.  It is time for rotation, with approximately 10-20% tread left on the rear and 40% on the front.

Some of the bad now. The Las Vegas heat took a toll on the leather, it cracked all apart on the front seats. The interior carpet cleans up nicely but does have stains from being 20 years old, mostly under the floor mats, which are worn as well.    It has a short 3-4" crack on the dash on the small shelf between the glove box and main dashboard which we keep covered with a dash carpet.    The ground effects outside have popped loose at the top in one spot on each side,  but it would be an easy fix and it isn't really noticeable or effect operability. (doesn't vibrate or make noise and a couple screws would fix it)    The body has a few little dings, very small dimples where it has gotten bumped with golf clubs or something falling against it when sitting in a garage- all before we got the car.    The sunroof crank handle broke off and it has been glued back but it functions fine. The leather shifter boot and shifter knob show some deterioration. The dash lights can be quirky, as is normal with these cars.  The radiator light, for example, has been on since we bought the car with 78,000 miles on it.  The car does not smoke, but we have to add a little oil every 3-4 tank fulls of fuel  to keep it topped off.  I am not sure where it is going as it does not leave any puddles to speak of underneath it when sitting.  The same goes for the power steering fluid, but it only needs replenished every 4-5 months of normal driving.    The Freon in the air conditioning leaked off and the AC does not work, but the compressor etc still is fine.  We had it refilled once, but evidently the leak was not found so it has leaked off again.

All in all, she isn't a show car, but she is in really good shape for a car that is 21 years old.  Last year she fell off the NADA and Kelley Blue Book car values guides, and  dropped into the NADA/ KBB  "Classic" car value guides, and is appreciating each year now. Currently the car's value is  over   5000.00  in both the NADA and KBB Classics as an "average" condition vehicle..

I would prefer that you pick the car up, and I have no doubts that it would make it to anywhere in the US but that statement is not a guarantee, of course.     Additionally-  I require a 500.00 non-refundable deposit via paypal if you  win this auction,  paid within 24 hours.

We are only selling her because we are getting the wife a newer, bigger  car and don't want to let her sit around and go bad. Thanks for looking!

'Zero' chance of Renault taking over Nissan, Mitsubishi, says Ghosn

Fri, Jun 22 2018

TOKYO — Renault SA absorbing Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp is not an option as the carmakers look to strengthen their partnership while retaining their autonomy, alliance chairman Carlos Ghosn said on Friday. "Anybody who will ask Nissan and Mitsubishi to become wholly owned subsidiaries of Renault has zero chance of getting a result," Ghosn told shareholders of Mitsubishi Motors at a meeting. He also serves as chief executive of France's Renault. The alliance was the world's top-selling passenger vehicle maker in 2017, but as the global auto industry consolidates, it is looking to strengthen its position before the 64-year-old Ghosn, its main architect, retires in the coming years after overseeing the partnership for nearly 20 years. We reported in March that the carmakers were discussing a deeper tie-up, which could see the French government, a major shareholder in Renault, give up influence at Renault and the French carmaker relinquish control over Nissan. The three automakers have a unique partnership designed to leverage their combined scale to save on costs including R&D, parts procurement and production to better compete with rivals Volkswagen AG and Toyota Motor Corp. They are also interlinked by their shareholding structure. Renault holds 43.4 percent of shares in Nissan, while Nissan owns 15 percent of Renault, with no voting rights in a partnership that began in 1999. Mitsubishi Motors joined the alliance in 2016 after Nissan took a 34 percent controlling stake in the smaller automaker. Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa has said the alliance is not discussing a "full merger." Ghosn said that while the focus of the alliance was to sell more cars and increase profitability by reducing unnecessary duplication of processes, he wanted each of the three automakers to maintain their independence, which differentiated the group from Toyota and Volkswagen. "We need to work together ... to find a system by which what we have today, which is working very well, can continue in the future no matter who is leading the alliance," he said. "We need to prove that this is sustainable five years down the road, 10 years down the road, 15 years down the road." In a Figaro interview published last week, Ghosn was upbeat about the prospect of securing a new deal for the alliance despite its extreme political sensitivity in France and Japan, saying a plan would need to be announced "well before" the end of his four-year term at the helm of Renault in 2022.

Carlos Ghosn to make first public appearance in seven weeks on Tuesday

Sat, Jan 5 2019

Ousted Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn is set to make his first public appearance in seven weeks at a Tokyo court on Tuesday after he requested an open hearing to hear the reason for his continued detention. Ghosn has been held in a detention center since his Nov. 19 arrest on allegations of financial misconduct, which was followed by re-arrests over further allegations. The hearing will take place at 10:30 local time (0130 GMT) on Jan. 8, the Tokyo District Court said on Friday. The reason behind the timing of Ghosn's request was not clear. Earlier this week, the court approved an extension to Ghosn's detention until Jan. 11, after re-arrest by prosecutors who accuse him of aggravated breach of trust in transferring personal investment losses to Nissan. Those allegations center on the use of company funds to pay a Saudi businessman who is believed to have helped him out of financial difficulties, sources said last week. According to an article from The New York Times, Ghosn and his family assert that he is innocent. In remarks Ghosn made while under detention in Japan, he is reported to have said through his lawyer, "I want to have my position heard and restore my honor in court." Former Nissan executive Greg Kelly, who has been charged with conspiring to under-report Ghosn's income, has been released on bail after the court ruled against extending his detention while he awaits trial. Ghosn's arrest was followed by his removal from roles at Nissan and Mitsubishi. The case has rocked the auto industry and strained Nissan's ties with French partner Renault where Ghosn still remains chairman and chief executive. Renault has launched a search for an interim chief to fill Ghosn's roll at the French company as he deals with these legal cases in Japan. The arrest has also put some of the practices of Japan's criminal justice system under international scrutiny, including keeping suspects in detention for long periods and prohibiting defense lawyers from being present during interrogations. Lebanon imposes travel ban on ex-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn

Thu, Jan 9 2020

BEIRUT — A Lebanese prosecutor imposed a travel ban on former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn on Thursday, judicial sources said, after he was questioned over an Interpol warrant issued by Japan seeking his arrest on financial misconduct charges. Ghosn fled Japan to Lebanon, his childhood home, last month as he was awaiting trial on charges of under-reporting earnings, breach of trust and misappropriation of company funds, all of which he denies. The Lebanese judicial authorities also asked Japan for its file on Ghosn, including the charges against him, and will not question him again until the information is received, one of the sources said. Carlos Abou Jaoude, a Beirut-based lawyer for Ghosn, told Lebanese broadcaster MTV Ghosn was "very comfortable" with the proceedings in Beirut. "He is very comfortable with the path," Jaoude said, adding that Ghosn was also comfortable himself "especially after what he went through". The decision issued by the prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Ouiedat, requires Ghosn to keep the authorities informed of his place of residence, the judicial sources said. Ghosn would surrender his French passport to the Lebanese authorities later on Thursday, one of the sources said after the questioning, which took place at Beirut's Justice Palace, the headquarters of the judiciary. The Brazilian-born Ghosn said on Wednesday he had escaped to Lebanon to clear his name and was ready to stand trial anywhere he could get a fair hearing. Ghosn said he was ready to stay for a long time in Lebanon, which does not allow the extradition of its nationals, and a source close to the 65-year-old has said his legal team is pushing for him to be tried in the country. In addition to the Interpol warrant, Ghosn was also questioned over a formal legal complaint filed against him by a group of Lebanese lawyers who accuse him of "normalization" with Israel over a visit he made there in 2008. The prosecutor released him with the same condition, that he keep the authorities aware of his place of residence, the sources said. There was no immediate statement from the prosecutor's office. In his comments to MTV, Ghosn's lawyer Jaoude said a statement would be issued by Ghosn's team later. Ghosn said on Wednesday he had made the trip as a French citizen and an executive of Renault to sign a contract with a state-backed Israeli firm to sell electric vehicles, and had been obliged to go because the board had requested it.
