Up for sale is an ultra rare Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Twin Turbo AWD. While Mitsubishi’s supercar 3000GT VR4 is rare in itself, this 3000GT VR4 is not only a “first year” 1991 model with the classic “pop-up” head lamps but it is also Glacier White whereas the vast majority of 3000GTs are red or black. Add to that the fact that the car is very stock and unmolested and you can see just how rare of a car you’re looking at. If you don’t know about the 3000GT VR4 then suffice it to say that it was Mitsubishi’s supercar in competition with the Nissan Skyline/300ZX twin turbo, Toyota Supra Twin Turbo, Acura NSX, and Mazda RX7 Twin Turbo. Of the group the 3000 GT VR-4 was tied with the Supra Twin Turbo for the most power but the VR4’s All-Wheel-Drive and amazing torque allowed good testers to get sub 5-second 0-60 times. While considerably heavy, the car’s huge anti-lock brakes and 4WS (4-Wheel-Steering) make it one of the best handling cars to ever come out of Japan. It also helps that has the ultra-wide stance of a Ferrari. The take off of the car is still as rocket-like as its looks. Unlike most VR4s that have ended up modified and ragged, my VR4 is largely unmolested and in reasonably good shape. It even has the factory stereo with equalizers and power antenna. It was driven less than 7,000 miles a year meaning it has very low miles for a car of its age. You can keep it stock as I have to be an example of a great classic car or with a few tweaks it could be a 450-500HP monster. This car is not perfect, it has a small wear spot on the outside bolster of the passenger side front seat, it has been painted to factory color code, it has the usual oil residue under the car as you would expect for 140K. If you’re serious about owning this largely unmolested Japanese supercar legend give me a call at 904-718-3829

Mitsubishi Evolution Final Edition goes out with a bang
Mon, Oct 5 2015The end of a long era - one we got to experience too little of - is just about at an end, and this car is its gravestone. The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition is the last breath of ten generations of Lancer Evos, three of which came to the US. Mitsubishi launched a Final Edition Evo X in Japan earlier this year, after teasing a 473-horsepower concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon, now it's our turn. Built on the lower GSR trim, our model gets 303 hp, a bump of 12 hp, and torque goes up by five pound-feet to 305 lb-ft. The bigger modification is arguably the fitment of Bilstein shocks wrapped in Eibach springs all around, plus two-piece Brembo calipers on the front axle, all of which come standard on the upper-level MR trim. Dark chrome Enkei wheels match the dark chrome front grille surround. Like the grille, other changes for the Final Edition appear to be ornamental: black aluminum roof, black interior with red accent stitching, and special badging. Mitsubishi is putting 1,600 on sale here, each one with a numbered plaque just ahead of the shifter for the five-speed manual transmission. A second badge makes an appearance on the decklid. Final Edition Evos come in one of four colors, new Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray and Octane Blue, and cost $37,995. That price puts it $700 above the GSR Premium trim, and $1,000 below the entry MR trim. There are two press releases below with more information. This content is hosted by a third party. Oct. 5, 2015 – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today announced the details of the limited-production 2015 Lancer Evolution Final Edition. Arguably the originator of the four-door sports car genre, the Lancer Evolution has seen ten generations – three of which were sold in the U.S. over 12 years. To send it off in style, Mitsubishi Motors will offer 1,600 numbered Final Edition models to the U.S. market with a MSRP of $37,995. The Lancer Evolution Final Edition is based off the current GSR model, with exterior and interior enhancements not previously offered on the GSR.
Mitsubishi admits it lied about MPG ratings for all vehicles in Japan
Wed, May 11 2016Like the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal, news about Mitsubishi's lies over fuel-economy ratings for its Japanese market vehicles is going from bad to worse. First, it was just a few kei cars. Then it was vehicles made as far back as 1991. Now Mitsubishi has admitted deceptive mileage test data could affect every vehicle it has sold in Japan, but not vehicles sold elsewhere. We suspect that this will not cause the EPA to relax its request for more information from the Japanese automaker to see if any vehicles sold in the US are affected. Mitsubishi Motors North America has said its US numbers are legit. In a letter to the Japanese government, Mitsubishi said that even though its managers knew getting good fuel economy ratings was a difficult task, they didn't ask too many questions of the engineers actually doing the tests. That allowed those employees to fake some of the numbers. Exactly what the repercussions will be in Japan is not known, CBS News says, both in terms of fines or penalties and how to compensate people who bought these vehicles. Reports are also just coming in that the fuel scandal might lead to Nissan taking control of Mitsubishi. More on this as it develops. Mitsubishi to offer new Galant, Montero in US?
Wed, 03 Apr 2013We admit it - we've been skeptical about Mitsubishi's fortunes here in the US for a long time now, and this month's reveal of the 2014 Mirage subcompact at the New York Auto Show didn't do much to quell our consternation. Yes, the Mirage should attract a certain portion of the buying population based on what will likely be the best fuel economy figures in its segment and a low price, but the profitability of basic small cars is limited even under the best of circumstances. Mitsubishi is clearly going to need something meatier in its portfolio if it wants to get back on track financially.
Help appears to be on the way. According to The Detroit Free Press, Masatoshi Hasegawa, the company's executive vice president here in North America, has confirmed that at least two more models are destined for the company's US dealerships, and it looks like they're going to be entries into higher-volume, higher-margin segments. Hasegawa pledges that the company will overhaul its lineup over the next two to three years, and one of them will be a successor to the often-ignored Galant, a midsize sedan we last saw for the 2012 model year.
And what of the other model? Apparently it will be an unnamed "bigger brother" for the new 2014 Outlander, an acknowledgment that suggests Mitsubishi is considering bringing its Montero/Pajero SUV back to the States. Earlier this month, we heard a report that a next-generation model for the venerable off-roader remains a few years out, but it's possible Mitsubishi might import the current aging model before the new one is produced. A big shift is said to be in the works for the fifth-generation model, with a massive weight loss and possible plug-in hybrid variant tipped as top goals for the program.
