I am the 2nd owner of this heavily modified 1995 3000GT VR-4. The motor has about 10k miles on it, transmission about 30k. Purchased in April 2000, I have invested over $50k in aftermarket parts and modifications into this car. It has been garaged nearly all of it's life and hasn't seen rain in about seven years. Nearly everything on the car still works except for the gas light and antenna mast which needs to be replaced. A few items have been removed, such as the active aero, front windshield wipers and reservoir, and cruise control. Other than that everything else on the car is in perfect working order, including the all-wheel steering (I recently had the RWS rack and pinion replaced), ECS shocks (recently replaced as well) and ice cold A/C etc. My plan for this car was to build a 600awhp weekend driver on 100 octane and meth injection. I got about 95% done before funds dried up with the purchase of a house. Right now the car drives beautifully and easily makes ~450awhp on 91 octane at wastegate pressure of ~10psi & has a TON of potential. With meth injection, intake pipes and tuning I'm sure it could easily hit my original target of 600awhp at 25-27PSI. The car is smogged until May 2015 and comes with a gutted catalytic converter for track days (right now it has a flow-max catalytic converter). I have put so much time and money into this car I will only let it go for $30,000 as it could easily be parted out for $20k, possibly $25k if someone was really ambitious. However, I am only willing to sell this car to someone who has the time and desire to complete it. That said, I will not entertain any offers less than $30,000. The perfect buyer for this car would be a 3000GT enthusiast who knows and can appreciate the laundry list of rare, expensive, and nearly impossible to obtain parts on this car such as the authentic PitroadM front bumper, titanium cat-back & FMIC; Kaze side view mirrors and rear bumper; ACPT one piece carbon fiber drive-shaft, quaife front LSD, OS Giken twin disc clutch, genuine MHI TD05 16G turbos, 15" StopTech brakes, and the discontinued 19" AVS Model 5 rims in limited black chrome (19x9 front, 19x10 rear) to name just a few items. 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV gets more power and more range
Tue, Feb 23 2021There's a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander for the 2022 model year, and we've been told that a plug-in hybrid version is on the way. But before that happens, Mitsubishi has given the current Outlander PHEV an under-the-skin refresh for 2021 that brings more power, more range and a new trim level. Despite the upgrades, the starting price hasn't budged. The Outlander PHEV gets a new 2.4-liter engine rated at 126 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque that replaces the previous 2.0-liter engine. A rear-axle-mounted electric motor adds 70kW of electric power, up 10kW over the old version. Add it all up and the powertrain spins out a total of 221 hp, up 31 ponies from the previous model. Updated software is said to improve "synchronization between battery and engine," which Mitsubishi says yields reductions in noise, vibration and harshness. All Outlander PHEVs are equipped with Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive system, and the 2021 edition gains Sport and Snow driving modes. Along with the power boost, the Outlander PHEV's battery capacity increases from 12.0 kW/h to 13.8 kW/h. That adds two additional miles of all-electric range for a total of up to 24 miles. Mitsubishi also says the top speed under electric power with no assistance from the gasoline engine rises from 79 mph to 83 mph. According to the EPA, the 2021 Outlander PHEV scores a combined 74 MPGe while running in hybrid electric mode and 26 MPG combined once the battery is depleted. That's an improvement of one mile per gallon. In addition to last year's SEL and GT trim levels, the 2021 Outlander PHEV gains an LE edition. The new trim adds a blacked-out grille, dark chrome dual spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and a blackout design for the front and rear bumpers. Also standard on the LE are a sunroof and upgraded audio system. Despite the significant upgrades for 2021, the Outlander PHEV SEL starts at the same $37,490 asking price as before. The LE costs $39,190 and the top-spec GT lists at $43,190. Buyers are eligible for $6,587 in federal tax credits, which is up $751 compared to the 2020 model year due to the increase in battery capacity. The 2021 Outlander PHEV is available at Mitsubishi dealerships now.
Mitsubishi delays Outlander PHEV yet again for the US
Fri, Jul 29 2016Mitsubishi was so close this time. The company showed the US-spec version of the plug-in Outlander crossover at this year's New York auto show, with plans for it to go on sale in the summer or fall of 2016. But once again, the beleaguered green family hauler has been delayed. HybridCars learned from Mitusbishi public relations managers for both the US and Canada that the Outlander PHEV won't go on sale until next summer. No specific reasons for the delay were given outside of a need "to meet a level of competitiveness that will exceed customer expectations." While we hope for Mitsubishi's sake the company releases the best product it can make, we don't think the expectations of our market will be that high, since there are no plug-in hybrid SUVs in the Outlander's class and price range. Unfortunately delays have been a recurring problem for this model. We first thought it would arrive in 2014 after launching in Japan. But ever since the original announcement, problems including battery production issues and regulatory demands have prevented the Outlander PHEV's US introduction. In the meantime, Japan and Europe have had the crossover for a few years. The car has since been refreshed, and we were promised that updated model but no dice yet. HybridCars also points out that the Outlander PHEV has been the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe. We imagine it could be a major success here since it combines plug-in tech with the ever-popular crossover body style, but we won't know until next year. Mitsubishi bringing SUV 'Legend' to the Chicago Auto Show
Thu, Jan 22 2015Mitsubishi claims that "a legend" is returning to its ranks at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show in February. Its save-the-date to the Windy City event just depicts an indistinguishable crossover sitting on top of a sand dune as the only hint of what the Japanese brand has in store. However, according to company spokesperson Alex Fedorak this isn't an entirely new vehicle. Mitsubishi is giving the GC-PHEV concept (pictured below) its North American debut, after originally unveiling it at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. While it's purely a concept, the vehicle is "a designer's rendering of what a new Montero could look like," said Fedorak to Autoblog. While Mitsu is not committing to putting the chunky CUV into production yet, the press conference is going to "talk about what role if any it plays in our future," he said.
