This was my dream car and I have loved it, but sadly i don't have the money to care for it now. the only real problem mechanically that i am aware of is the transmission it locks up while driving and after it did that twice I have not driven it just to get someone to tow it to their shop and just check out whats going on around here they wanted to charge me more than I can afford so I'm just trying to grow up and move on so Im getting rid of this beauty. it might not cost much at all to fix I'm not sure but I just don't have the time or money right now. Was working on changing the interior from tan to all black, so the roof is still tan and so are the seats but the carpet is black now. Also included is the extra carpet that is black and everything I was using to fix it up with extra pieces and everything. As far as mechanical upgrades I have spent over $10,000 in the engine, new twin turbos that push 20 lbs, I have the boost controller peak limit set to 21.9 so they could still push more if everything gets tweaked just right. the engine is all chromed out when getting all the engine upgrades so it looks great after a detail job. The next thing I was going to upgrade was the transmission but now I don't have the money or time. the clutch I believe is a high performance one had that replaced a while back. the cosmetic damage on the outside was from hydroplaning into a poll so there is a dent behind the passenger door and scuffs from curb on the driver side, one of the rims has a scuff also. The front bumper has a scuff also. The sound system is custom built for this car one of a kind. it has 2 12's subs and everything in the trunk the backseat was removed to make room for everything so the backseat is no more. The passenger seat belt is also not attached but is just in the car. The car has a full Borla exhaust which sounds great on this car. The white pieces on the hood are new vents for better air flow just haven't been painted. Just selling the car as is everything I have listed is all that I am aware of had this car for a long time and it has been great to me.
I know this listing isn't very good I really hate to get rid of this car but I need to move on from it so if you have any questions just ask I can get some audio clips of the engine and blow off valve or exhaust just send me a message and Ill see what I can do for you. Junkyard Gem: 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo
Mon, Jul 3 2017When Diamond Star Motors, a Chrysler-Mitsubishi joint venture, came online in the late 1980s, the first products to come out of the Normal, Illinois assembly plant were versions of the first-generation of the Mitsubishi Eclipse. There was the Eclipse itself, the Eagle Talon, and the Plymouth Laser. Here's a somewhat tattered example of the latter type, spotted in a Northern California self-serve yard. This car is unrelated to the Chrysler Laser of a few years earlier, which was based on the K-platform-derived Dodge Daytona. The Plymouth Laser was a pure Mitsubishi design. This one has the DOHC turbocharged 2.0-liter Sirius engine, rated at 190 horsepower. That was plenty of power by 1990 standards, a year in which the wildest possible Chevrolet Camaro (the IROC-Z, of course) packed just 230 hp under the hood. The IROC-Z weighed 3,149 pounds versus the Laser's 2,483, giving the Laser a slightly better power-to-weight ratio, not to mention a price tag more than $500 lower. CD players in cars were still uncommon in 1990; this Laser has the much more mainstream "computer controlled deck" cassette player, complete with nine-band graphic equalizer. Badging in futuristic typefaces was all the rage when this car was new. The all-wheel-drive Eclipse/Talon/Laser didn't hit dealerships until the 1991 model year, so all the '90s are front-wheel-drive only. The torque steer experienced in these cars could be exciting. Junkyard Gem: 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Wed, May 15 2024When Chrysler and Mitsubishi partnered to establish the Diamond-Star Motors plant in Illinois, the first cars built at that facility were 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipses along with their Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser twins. The Eclipse went through four generations, with 2012 as the final model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the very last Eclipses, found in a Denver car graveyard recently. This generation of Eclipse was built starting with the 2006 model year, and it was based on a platform shared with the Galant and Endeavor. It was substantially larger than the early Eclipses, scaling in at nearly 3,500 pounds. The Spyder convertible version of the fourth-gen Eclipse debuted in the United States as a 2007 model. Sales were never strong and became downright miserable by the end, with fewer than a thousand 2012 Eclipses (both coupes and convertibles) leaving showrooms. This car is a base-grade GS with automatic transmission, and its VIN indicates that it was built for fleet sale. This would have been a fun rental car, at least compared to the Dodge Nitros and Kia Rios that stocked rental fleets in the early 2010s. The engine is a 2.4-liter SOHC straight-four rated at 162 horsepower and 162 pound-feet. The MSRP was $27,999, or about $38,581 in 2024 dollars. 2012 was also the final year for the Galant in the United States, though that was the model year in which the i-MiEV went on sale here. For the 2018 model year, Mitsubishi revived the Eclipse name — sort of — for the Outlander-derived Eclipse Cross compact SUV, which is still being built to this day. Rare? Very. Valuable? No. You could get the Eclipse Spyder with a 650-watt sound system. Driven to thrill.
2014 Mitsubishi Mirage
Tue, 07 Jan 2014This could have been something great. Last fall, Mitsubishi slapped its triple-diamond badge on a dainty little hatchback called Mirage, offering plenty of functionality and 44 miles per gallon on the highway, all starting at a super-low $12,995. For budget shoppers, this seemed to be a good thing - not to mention a much-needed breath of fresh air for the company's waning US automotive arm.
I will fully admit to being a bit harsh on the Mirage following its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show, often making it the butt of jokes with my colleagues. But at the end of the day, I love cheap, basic, honest little cars like this, and I wasn't prepared to write off the Mirage until I spent some time behind the wheel. After all, on paper, a Mazda2 looks pretty unremarkable, and yet it's one of my favorite small cars to drive.
Much as I wasn't looking forward to putting my foot in my mouth, I was sort of hoping to feel the same way about the new Mirage. It's a bland package, but it could have been filled with the same spunky spirit and well-meaning composure of vehicles like the aforementioned Mazda, or even stuff like the Honda Fit or Chevy Spark and Sonic.
