For sale is my 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 V6 Twin Turbo Manual Transmission. The car is in very good condition for being over 20 years old. It comes in the rare factory color of pearl white with red leather interior. Car has 148,000 original miles on body and only 40k on rebuilt transmission. I bought it from a guy who came from Virginia, from the Marines, who was stationed in Wisconsin. The car has never seen snow and has all the paper work proving it is originally from Virginia. Car is currently in my garage and has NEVER been driven past Nov 1st. Has all service records and even the dealer sticker it came with when it was sold in 1992. The transmission was rebuilt at 108k and I have the paper work to prove it. Car has really been taken care of over the years. Car sounds beautiful with a Borla exhaust system installed. It doesn't sound like a "ricer", actually sounds "throaty" like a muscle car. Car pulls extremely hard and boosts really fast. Absolutely no rust, dents or accidents in this cars lifetime. Never used to race or abused by a teenager. I would put it up against any new foreign car these days. I am in the works of installing 5% tint all around the car and I have a Viper alarm/keyless entry/automatic starter I was also in the works of installing, but will include (or even install) for the right price. I am not in a hurry to sell this car, but I would be happy to entertain any offers, so please, no low balling (CASH ONLY). Only reason I am selling it is because I am going to purchase a new 2015 Mustang GT in August. So, I definitely have plenty of time to sell it. Pros: -Blitz BOV -Blitz Turbo Timer -Chrome Moda Rims -Borla Exhaust System -Y-Pipe -K & N Cold Air Intake -Voodoo Manually Boost Controller -Red Leather Seats -New Red Valve Cover -6 CD Changer With Eclipse Deck (Best Deck Ever Made) -8 Speakers -2 MB Quart Formula 12" Subs W/Custom Box And 1300 Watt Pioneer Amp (Sounds Great) -Oil Just Changed With Castro Synthetic Oil W/ New High Mileage Filter -3rd Generation Lifters Just Installer the Last 500 Miles (Any 3000GT That Doesn't Have The 3rd Generation Lifters Installed Sounds like A Ticking Time Bomb) -Brand New SPEC II+ Clutch Kit Installed (Last 500 Miles) Holds up to 629 Ft/lb Of Torque ($1000) -Brand New RPS Light Weight Fly Wheel Installed (Last 500 Miles and Best Fly Wheel Available) -New Front Left and Right CV Shafts Replaced For A Smoother Ride -AC ICE COLD!!!! (VERY RARE) -HEAT NICE AND WARM! -Replaced Driver and Passenger Side Window Track and Motors Cons: -Roof Of Car Has Clear Coat Paint Chipping (Quoted At $300 To Get It Refinished) -2 Front Seats Have Rips In the Middle Of Leather Seats (But Back Seats Are Flawless) -Front Defrost Vents Are Warped (Happens In All 3000GT's) -Antenna Needs New Motor (Like Anyone Listens To The Radio Anymore) I also have a video that I can send anyone that's interested of a tour around my car. New, never-sold 2006 Mitsubishi Evo draws $100K bid on eBay
Wed, Jul 19 2017Today, in the "OK, guess it must be worth that to somebody" department, we note that a California car dealer has an eBay listing for a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, still brand new and never titled, with nine miles on the odometer. Just another day on eBay, right, and just another car that didn't sell, was hoarded, or somehow forgotten in a barn? Not exactly. The top bid as of Wednesday morning was $100,100. The Evo was a popular car (for a Mitsubishi) in its day, in a cult-of-personality way. And though its run ended with the 2015 model year, a quick inventory search shows there are still around 30 of them sitting brand-new on dealer lots, including the #0001-of-1,600 Lancer Evolution Final Edition, a $70,000 MSRP limited-edition car in Rally Red that a Brooklyn dealer is trying to move for $87,888. Most of the remainders are listed in the $30,000s, however. The 2006 eBay car is listed by South Coast Mitsubishi in Orange County, a dealer who by one Redditer's account laid up a bunch of Evos like bottles of fine wine and sold them off at higher prices. If so, is this the last one in the cellar? And why did the dealership set a car aside in 2006, when they were plentiful and long before the model's demise? For whatever reason, this 2006 car has time-traveled to 2017, with seats still wrapped in plastic and an engine bay you could perform surgery in. It's an Evo IX MR in Graphite Gray with black trim. Base MSRP was a bit more than $35K. It's optioned with the MR package that includes some aluminum and carbon-fiber bits and boost-gauge kit, the Zero Lift aero kit, and it has a six-speed manual. Bottom line on the sticker was $37,094. Specs for that year: The Evo had a 2.0-liter, 16-value inline four making 286 horsepower with 289 pound-feet of torque. The car's curb weight was 3,300 pounds, and its 0-to-60 time was a highly impressive 4.4 seconds. Yet, for $100K or a little more or a lot less, think of all the amazing 2017 new cars, equipped with the latest technology, that would dominate it - Tesla Model S, Lexus LC 500, BMW M2, Mercedes C63 AMG, Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio, Camaro ZL1, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Dodge Demon, Dodge Hellcat, Corvette ZL1. Even a Mustang GT350 could edge it out, and if you drove a hard bargain you might be able to afford two. So, can a Mitsubishi triple its value by sitting around for a decade undriven? Is this in any way a collectible, to keep undriven as an investment?

Junkyard Gem: 1983 Mitsubishi Starion
Wed, Feb 6 2019Americans had been buying Mitsubishis with Dodge or Plymouth badging for more than a decade when the first Mitsubishi-badged cars began showing up on these shores. For the 1983 model year, Mitsubishi USA offered the Cordia, the Tredia, the Mighty Max, and the Starion; the latter was a futuristic-looking rear-wheel-drive sports car that took direct aim at potential buyers of the Supra, the 280ZX, the RX-7, and even the Camaro. Here's a rare first-year "narrow-body" Starion in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. Even though every Starion sported a turbocharged engine, the word TURBO was considered so magical during this era that no self-respecting car company in 1983 would have refrained from adding at least a couple of TURBO badges. Later Starions (and Conquests) even had TURBO badging sewn into the seat belts. In 1983, the Starion's 2.6-liter Astron packed 145 horsepower, which compared favorably to the optional 175-horse engine in the much heavier 1983 Camaro Z28 (the base Z28 engine made 150hp). The 280ZX cost more and offered 145 horsepower; the 280ZX Turbo cost lots more but had 180 horses. This car looks tired but not rusty. The pins stuck into fuel-injection electrical connectors tell a sad story of its final days on the road; a frustrated owner tried to use a multimeter to figure out hard-to-diagnose electrical woes. Auto-reverse was a high-end audio-system feature in 1983 cars. Mitsubishi made (and still makes) plenty of good consumer electronics, so the sound systems in these cars were considered high-quality stuff for their time. I shot this car with a circa-1983 cereal-box-prize film camera, because it seemed like a good idea. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
