For sale is my 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 V6 Twin Turbo Manual Transmission. The car is in very good condition for being over 20 years old. It comes in the rare factory color of pearl white with red leather interior. Car has 148,000 original miles on body and only 40k on rebuilt transmission. I bought it from a guy who came from Virginia, from the Marines, who was stationed in Wisconsin. The car has never seen snow and has all the paper work proving it is originally from Virginia. Car is currently in my garage and has NEVER been driven past Nov 1st. Has all service records and even the dealer sticker it came with when it was sold in 1992. The transmission was rebuilt at 108k and I have the paper work to prove it. Car has really been taken care of over the years. Car sounds beautiful with a Borla exhaust system installed. It doesn't sound like a "ricer", actually sounds "throaty" like a muscle car. Car pulls extremely hard and boosts really fast. Absolutely no rust, dents or accidents in this cars lifetime. Never used to race or abused by a teenager. I would put it up against any new foreign car these days. I am in the works of installing 5% tint all around the car and I have a Viper alarm/keyless entry/automatic starter I was also in the works of installing, but will include (or even install) for the right price. I am not in a hurry to sell this car, but I would be happy to entertain any offers, so please, no low balling (CASH ONLY). Only reason I am selling it is because I am going to purchase a new 2015 Mustang GT in August. So, I definitely have plenty of time to sell it. Pros: -Blitz BOV -Blitz Turbo Timer -Chrome Moda Rims -Borla Exhaust System -Y-Pipe -K & N Cold Air Intake -Voodoo Manually Boost Controller -Red Leather Seats -New Red Valve Cover -6 CD Changer With Eclipse Deck (Best Deck Ever Made) -8 Speakers -2 MB Quart Formula 12" Subs W/Custom Box And 1300 Watt Pioneer Amp (Sounds Great) -Oil Just Changed With Castro Synthetic Oil W/ New High Mileage Filter -3rd Generation Lifters Just Installer the Last 500 Miles (Any 3000GT That Doesn't Have The 3rd Generation Lifters Installed Sounds like A Ticking Time Bomb) -Brand New SPEC II+ Clutch Kit Installed (Last 500 Miles) Holds up to 629 Ft/lb Of Torque ($1000) -Brand New RPS Light Weight Fly Wheel Installed (Last 500 Miles and Best Fly Wheel Available) -New Front Left and Right CV Shafts Replaced For A Smoother Ride -AC ICE COLD!!!! Junkyard Gem: 1994 Mitsubishi Diamante ES Sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2023Once the decade of the 1990s got rolling, the Lexus LS400, Toyota Cressida, Infiniti Q45, Acura Legend and Mazda 929 had proven that big Japanese-made luxury sedans could rack up respectable sales in the United States. Mitsubishi dove into that competition starting with the 1992 model year, when the Diamante arrived on our shores. Here's one of those early Diamantes, found in an Oklahoma City car graveyard recently. Mitsubishi had been selling big, swanky Debonairs at home since the middle 1960s, but that car was never sold new in North America (though a Debonair-related Hyundai, the XG300/XG350, did show up here). The Diamante was based on an enlarged Galant/Sigma platform and was available here as a pillared hardtop four-door sedan (in which there is a narrow B pillar but the door windows are frameless) and as a station wagon. The US-market sedan was built in Japan, while the wagon came from Australia. The Diamante's price tag made it tempting for American buyers considering Japanese luxury sedans. The base ES sedan listed for $25,525 in 1994, which comes to about $53,097 in 2023 dollars. Meanwhile, the Mazda 929 started at $30,500 ($63,446 now), the Acura Legend sedan cost $33,800 ($70,311 now), the Infiniti Q45 listed at $49,450 ($102,866 now) and the Lexus LS400 was $51,200 ($106,507 now). The higher-zoot Diamante LS (which cost $32,500 in 1994) got a twin-cam 6G72 V6 driving the front wheels with 202 horsepower, but today's Junkyard Gem is a base ES and it has the SOHC 6G72 with just 175 horses. Mitsubishi built Diamantes with manual transmissions, but we didn't get those cars on our side of the Pacific. A four-speed automatic transmission was mandatory equipment in North American Diamantes. This car didn't quite make it to 140,000 miles during its career. It appears that this car passed through the hands of both Fred Jones and a lesser-known outfit called Amigoland Motors during its life. This generation of Diamante remained on sale in the United States through the 1996 model year, but sales never measured up to Mitsubishi's hopes. The wagon got the axe after 1995, at which time the ES sedan became a fleet-sales-only machine. For 1996, all Diamantes sold here were fleet cars. For 1997, a new generation of Diamante showed up; sales continued through 2004. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Maine is actively deregistering imported Mitsubishi Delicas — but why?
Sat, Jul 10 2021Some weird things are going on in Maine. The Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is actively deregistering Mitsubishi Delicas that were imported to the United States and previously registered in Maine under the well-known 25-year federal import rule. The folks at Crankshaft Culture brought this news to our attention and published a fairly detailed report at the beginning of the month. Ever since seeing that, we’ve been trying to track down more answers from the Maine BMV and Maine Secretary of StateÂ’s office. HereÂ’s a summary of whatÂ’s transpired so far. Crankshaft Culture did the digging on the Mitsubishi Delica Owners Club Facebook page, and uncovered that Maine has been sending letters out to folks in the state who currently own Delicas. Those letters unequivocally state that “this vehicle is not eligible for motor vehicle registration in Maine and may not be operated on the public highway.” It then goes on to demand owners remove the plates from the Delicas and return them to the BMV. Furthermore, it states that “the registration may not be used as proof of ownership to sell this vehicle as an automobile.” So no, Maine is not exactly mincing words. Of course, the question here is: Why? Why is Maine deregistering Mitsubishi Delicas? These vans were imported under the federal 25-year import law. We know this rule, but hereÂ’s a quick refresher from the Customs and Border ProtectionÂ’s website: “A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable DOT Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.” Theoretically, thatÂ’d make any Delicas over 25 years old legal to import here, along with pretty much any other contraption you want to bring that is old enough. Maine told us that itÂ’s only targeting pre-1995 Delicas, so thereÂ’s no time discrepancy. We went to the Maine Secretary of State to learn what is going on. The answers are slightly confusing, so bear with us. In short, Maine considers the Delica to be an "off-road vehicle." MaineÂ’s law — Title 29-A — is very clear with “off-road vehicles.” It reads: “Off-road vehicles may not be registered in accordance with this Title.” OK. Next question. What does Maine consider to be an “off-road vehicle?” And how does the Delica qualify? HereÂ’s where a brand-new modification (LD 1433 Sections 1-8) to Title 29-A comes into play.
Mitsubishi AR Concept continues a wacky, wonderful tradition [w/video]
Thu, 21 Nov 2013Mitsubishi enjoys a long history of thinking outside the literal box when it comes to designing minivans and people movers. Remember the Mitsubishi Van, a.k.a. Delica? How about the Chariot, better known to us as the Colt Vista? The Expo and Expo LRV, the twin models that succeeded it? These were all left-of-center takes on the MPV genre, and while they never sold in large volumes, we can't help but look back at them with a mix of bemusement and respect for their oddball character. Who knows? A production version of this AR Concept could be next.
According to Mitsubishi, "the comfort of a minivan and active personality of an SUV are merged at the highest levels" in the Concept AR. Us? We just think this mild hybrid concept looks kind of neat, even if it's just putting on off-road airs with its elevated ride hight, faux skid plates and black-lipped wheel wells.
Hardware-wise, this Active Runabout is less showcar and more 'real world,' with the front wheels drawing their power from a 134-horsepower, 1.1-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with a 10-kW electric motor used as a belt starter generator (read: mild hybrid). A continuously variable transmission handles shifting duties.
