1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt Vr-4 Coupe 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Stafford, Virginia, United States
I am not a dealership, nor am I trying to sell you a burned street racing car. This is my personal car and baby, always garaged. This is a 22 year old classic car with less than 29,000 original and unaltered miles (verified by CARMAX report). Do not expect a perfect off the dealership car. I drive this car and as such you should expect some minor wear and tear (and I have point them out in the video to the best of my abilities). However, for a 22 year old car, it is in impressive condition and lots of fun to drive. You climb into the driver’s seat not knowing what you are about to experience, but once inside the cockpit seems more like that of a fighter jet than that of a sports car. With the engine idling, there is little more than a soft, baritone rumble coming from the tuned exhaust pipes. Revving the engine gives you the feeling of untamed power. Ease the shifter into first gear and the transmission responds with reassuring precision. Press down on the accelerator and experience total exhilaration. Both intercooled turbochargers emit a noticeable shrill hiss, and 300 plus horsepower pours into the full-time all-wheel-drive system. The alloy wheels and 255/45 Z-rated tires dig into the pavement, the suspension tenses, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 launches off the line. Sweep into the first turn, and the same-phase four-wheel steering generates breathtaking stability. The steering wheel is alive with information about the road. View a video of this car here: Your confidence soars. Your heart pounds. You can feel the intense power of which you are in control. Accelerate out of the turn and all-wheel drive with two limited-slip differentials creates unyielding traction. You power out of the corner with riveting control. The car appears to be riding on rails. On the open highway, the Active Aero system automatically adjusts the front air dam and rear spoiler, leveraging the wind for even more stability – without increasing aerodynamic drag. Electronically controlled shock absorbers immediately adapt to changing conditions. At cruising speed, you pull the shifter back into fifth gear. Before you know it, you’re flying thru the atmosphere! The engine settles down into an easy rhythm, the suspension relaxes, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 seems to become a form of transportation that NASA has overlooked… and I am fortunate enough to experience this thrill every time a drive. So if I like it so much, why am I selling? I want to buy another toy. This does not mean I am desperate to sell and serious buyers are welcomed. Do not ask me about the reserve price (this will be unfair to other bidding), but I will be more than glad to provide you with more car info. If you are the successful bidder a non- refundable $500 deposit is required within 24 hrs. via Pay Pal. Full payment must be made upon delivery to you or delegated shipping company. You are responsible for transportation or delivery. Do not miss this unique 3000 GT VR4. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. Mitsubishi teases new compact crossover that could be called Eclipse
Tue, Jan 24 2017Does the world need another compact crossover? No, not really. But Mitsubishi could certainly use another vehicle in the hottest segment in America. And the Japanese automaker is about to show off a brand-new model at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show that will slot between the Outlander Sport and the larger Outlander. Rumors suggest that this new compact crossover might revive a well-known name from the past: Eclipse. While that's undeniably better than a random series of numbers or letters, or another riff on the Outlander moniker, Mitsubishi would surely alienate some of its hardcore fans by christening a CUV with the name of an old sport coupe. Here's hoping those rumors stay exactly that. Moving past the potentially controversial name, what we're looking at is a pretty conventional coupe-like two-box shape. The sloping roofline looks current, and the steeply raked rear glass adds a sporty flare. We've got a little over a month before we see the new 'ute in all its glory, and probably about a year before it's in US showrooms. In the meantime, check out the dark teaser above or click to enlarge it down below. Related Video:
Ghosn's legacy: one of the auto industry's most effective execs
Wed, Nov 21 2018"Bob Lutz ... estimated that carrying out the Nissan operation would be the equivalent, for Renault, of putting $5 billion in a container ship and sinking it in the middle of the ocean." So wrote Carlos Ghosn in "SHIFT: Inside Nissan's Historic Revival," which was published in the U.S. in late 2004. Two points about that observation: It is in keeping with Lutz's "Often wrong but never in doubt." It shows that Ghosn is a remarkable executive, given that he was able to take Nissan from the edge of financial oblivion to one of the foremost automotive companies (although with alliance partners Renault and, more recently, Mitsubishi). In 1999, Ghosn created what was named the "Nissan Revival Plan." It could have just as well been called the "Nissan Resuscitation Plan." Things were that bad. Now Ghosn is in the midst of legal trouble, accused of financial improprieties of some sort. There is no indication that this is at anything near the scale of what happened at Volkswagen Group. There's malfeasance. And then there's malfeasance. It is likely that this is going to be the end of Ghosn's career, but at age 64, and as a man who has spent nearly the past quarter-century essentially on airplanes, it is probably a good time to leave the stage. What his next act will be — to court or even prison — is an open question. But arguably, Ghosn's performance in the transformation of Nissan and Renault, which also needed some strong medicine to keep it from collapse in the early '00s (although one suspects that the French government would have done its damnedest to keep it propped up), makes him one of the all-time most-notable executives in the auto industry. Ghosn closed plants in both France and Japan and he worked to dismantle the Nissan keiretsu network of interlocked companies, things that were absolutely unthinkable. He established plans with stretch goals in their titles, like the "20 Billion Franc Cost-Reduction Plan," and worked with his people to achieve them, despite the pushback that seemed to come along with the announcement of the plan. As in, as he recalled in SHIFT, "Some people said, 'He's off the deep end. He's raving mad. Doesn't he know that at Renault you set the most conservative goals possible so you can be certain to reach them?' My answer to that sort of thinking was 'You're going to get what you ask for. If you set the bar too low, you'll be a low-level performance.
Mitsubishi to showcase Outlander PHEV Concept-S in Paris
Mon, 22 Sep 2014The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is rumored to finally come to the US next fall as a 2016 model. In the meantime, the Japanese brand is showing off a concept for an Outlander plug-in at the Paris Motor Show in October with a massive improvement in styling and material quality that the automaker calls the "Sporty and Sophisticated" design theme.
With just a nip and a tuck, Mitsubishi's stylists have made the Outlander PHEV look a whole lot better. Instead of the narrow, squinting look of the current model, the concept shows a more vertical design that puts a big X right on the front end. In the center, there is an updated version of the horizontal grille leading to reshaped headlights. The big changes are found somewhat lower, with an air dam that is much better integrated thanks to black and chrome accents to draw the eye. The company claims that the rear gets similar upgrades with new lights and shining trim running across the tailgate.
The improved styling gets carried inside, as well. According to Mitsubishi, the design features black wood grain trim and silver accents throughout the cabin, and the center console is inspired by Japanese black lacquer boxes. The seats are also covered in hand-stitched leather with horizontal ribs.
