Cooper S Hatchback 2005 - Leather (heated) Seats, Sunroof, Great Stereo, Etc! on 2040-cars
Princeton, New Jersey, United States
Gently used by a graduate student who will soon be moving abroad permanently. No reserve. Runs very well. The "sport" gear is especially fun. The seats in the back fold down for greater storage capacity, which is a huge convenience for this type of car. Beautiful sun roof, heated seats (great in winter), excellent stereo quality (8 Harman Kardon brand speakers), painstakingly maintained, oiled, serviced. Please email with any questions, there are too many features and details to list. This vehicle was purchased with "top of the line everything" and includes every single optional extra. Email me for additional photos if you'd like enlarged pics or particular details. This is priced to sell because I'm moving, but if you are absolutely in love with this car (like I am) and cannot live without it, contact me with your offer and I will be as flexible as I can. NOTE: I briefly placed it in the ownership of a friend while I was living abroad, and then transferred the title back when I returned, so the carfax report thinks there have been three owners (me, my friend, then me again), but really I have been the only driving owner. Also, the report says "body work" in Jan. of 2014, which sounds like there was an accident, but actually this car has never had any kind of accident -- it just had some minor work on the driver's side door handle, which had come a little loose and they tightened it. FYI, the license plate info is blacked out to protect identity, there are not actually black boxes on the front and back of the car! |

Mini to skip 2016 Detroit, Geneva Auto Shows
Wed, Dec 2 2015Following a report from the team at MotoringFile, rumors have been swirling that Mini will join Jaguar Land Rover and abandon this year's North American International Auto Show. We can officially confirm that the BMW-owned brand will be passing on not only next month's Detroit show, but also Europe's flagship Geneva Motor Show. It all has to do with positioning. See, auto shows can be two things – they can be news events, or they can be consumer events. On the consumer side of the equation, we have the sprawling Chicago Auto Show, while both Geneva and Detroit lean heavily towards being a source of breaking news. Based on Mini's official statement, it looks like it was that positioning that led the brand to pass on two of the world's most important auto shows. "The BMW Group confirms it has decided Mini will not be represented at the shows in Detroit and Geneva. This decision reflects Mini's new product and brand strategy, which was presented to the public on June 24, 2015," Mini USA spokesperson Mariella Kapsaskis told Autoblog in an official statement. "Part of the new brand strategy is focusing on selected auto shows and an increased engagement with events that increase MINI's access to other relevant target groups." Max Muncey, PR manager for NAIAS, corroborated the statement from Mini. "The North American International Auto Show is one of the few shows to carry the international moniker. As such, we focus on making news with global media outlets rather than serving as a consumer show," Muncey told Autoblog. "Mini's decision reflects this positioning." According to Muncey, Detroit hosted 5,000 journalists last year, while its media coverage was roughly double that of LA, where Mini held the world debut for the new Convertible and the US debut for the Clubman last month. In our opinion, with both those debuts out of the way and not much else coming down the pipe in the near future, prioritizing auto shows based on consumer attendance rather than media attendance seems like a sound strategy. Here's hoping Mini returns to the frigid wastes of Detroit for the 2017 installment of the North American International Auto Show.

The 2014 Cooper will come with a three-cylinder engine and the Cooper S will get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, both with Mini's TwinPower turbochargers.
We have seen spy photos of the all-new Mini Cooper. We have been teased about its drivetrain. Now we have the engine details confirmed by BMW.
2014 Mini Cooper S
Fri, 27 Jun 2014One of the big challenges as an automotive journalist is reviewing cars that you have a personal connection to. I have a strong passion for Minis. My first new car was a 2004 Cooper S, and I still own a 2006 model. It's this affinity that's left me with a general disdain of the 2007 to 2013 model relative to my first-gen.
The last-generation cars, with their turbocharged engines, softer suspensions, duller steering and homelier looks are, in my mind, inferior to their 2002 to 2006 predecessors. As a car reviewer, though, I couldn't in good conscience argue the same point. The R56, as the last-gen cars were known internally and by enthusiasts, was a better-balanced vehicle that retained the lion's share of the abilities and character of the first-generation, R53 Cooper S, but they were better thought out, better designed, more livable, and felt like more complete products.
Before the third-generation of the reborn Mini Cooper S landed in my driveway, I couldn't help but wonder whether the model would continue its slide towards mass appeal, or if it would re-embrace the enthusiast realm with a stronger driver-focused mission. As I found out during my week with the car, it was a bit of both.
