Well, let's get the bad out of the way, first, shall we? Our wonderful Mini Cooper S has a transmission that is, basically, shot. The car drives for about 20 minutes, then has a tough time shifting into gear. Maybe it's a computer issue rather than the tranny, but the local Mini dealer seems to want to replace it, rather than do a hard reset, which several owners tell me would correct the problem. So, we are selling it AS-IS with this issue. The car is still in very good shape and would be a wonderful parts car for dismantling. I don't have to tell you how much the engine is worth alone so whatever you would want it for, it's ready for it. Other than driving home. LOL!

All kidding aside, the car is chocked-full of features. It has 128K of original miles and the engine is very strong. The supercharger makes this car a rocket. The body is in very good shape, without any accidents. There are door dings, but nothing out of the ordinary. Paint is still in good shape and hasn't faded as much as other cars of its age. Interior is in very good shape, with just some tears on the drivers side seat. The passenger side is excellent, the back seat is very good and the dash is excellent. The convertible top is in very good shape, without any tears. It works like a charm, too. All the electronics work great in the car. I will tell you: Battery Needs Replacing. I've charged it up a few times in the last few months, so I think it will need that for sure. Tires were replaced at 113,800, so there is about 14K of highway miles on it and they have been rotated every 3K. Oil was changed less than 3K ago, as was all the fluids, too.

I really loved driving this car, but we need to get it out of our parking lot soon, as we are moving. I know there is someone who can work on these or needs the parts that can use this special car. The book value on this car is $11K on the high side and 8.5K on the low side. My reserve is over 5K less than the low side of the car. Priced to sell!

Thanks for checking out the auction!

BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.

Watch Jay Leno bounce around with Dakar winner Roma in his Mini All4Racing

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

With Jay Leno off the Tonight Show, he has all the time in the world to focus on his passion for cars and can even travel a little. Leno teamed up with two-time Dakar Rally winner Nani Roma to jump and slide a Mini Countryman All4 racing truck around the dunes in Death Valley, CA.
The Mini-branded trucks are highly modified for off-road duty. They have won the Dakar Rally consecutively in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and even took a 1-2-3 finish in the most recent running. The specialized Minis are propelled over the dunes by a BMW-sourced, diesel engine with a six-speed sequential gearbox and heavy-duty all-wheel drive system with a locking center differential.
It is amusing to see the big smile on Leno's face, and Roma appears a little worried while Jay is driving. If this is what to expect from the post-Tonight Show Jay Leno's Garage videos, then things are only getting better from an already fantastic series. Scroll down to watch Leno and Roma take a Mini through the dunes.
