This car is for sale! It is a one of a kind 2005 Mini Cooper John Works DINAN S custom rally car! If you are looking for factory this is NOT it! This car has been custom rebuilt to become one with the road. it corners like it's on rails! It will blow the paint off anyone that tries to take up too much space! It is Supercharged and has been retrofitted with an ALTA Intercooler air diverter and air intake system with an ALTA reusable foam cone high intake performance filter. It has custom DINAN free flow exhaust and DINAN Stage 3 Engine Software
Stage 3 Engine Software is for use with the Dinan High Flow Cowl Induction Intake, optimizing performance and drivability. a new chipset to allow for a higher air to gas ratio for higher performance. This decreases the gas miliage of course but it still gets 25 MPG city and 28-35 MPG highway depending on if you go the speed limit or not....silly, its 28 MPG at best if you're doing it right! lol! The wheels are 18" Breyton GTS-R aluminum alloy, black with red stripe. They have been moderately cambered to provide even more stability when you are taking a curve going through the gorge at 100 MPH! The exact specs on this are as follow: please enlarge photo of spec sheet because it"s a LOT of numbers and data! i'll gladly email you a scan of the spec sheet. The suspension has been retrofitted by DINAN with Stage 1 and 2 suspension kits which include shocks overcoils and rollbars...more info here...http://www.dinancars.com/shop/D190-5312K-Stage-2-Suspension-System-Coupe-2006.aspxperformance  in other words, if you are looking for a smooth ride, this is not it; this car again has been engineered to be ONE WITH THE ROAD. This means that it is not smooth. It is not quiet. You feel every bump in the road which if you are driving the car as it should, you need to feel. The tires are large and wide so there is a bit of road noise from that as well...the suspension is super stiff to the point where you will be "that guy" almost coming to a complete stop at railroad tracks and speed bumps...the tires are also extra low profile so the pressure is very high and doesn't allow for much give in your jaw, neck, or back if you hit a pothole! just being totally honest here..truthfully, this car is not for everyone. im in NO rush to sell so i have no desire to sell to someone that will not enjoy the car as it is meant to be just as i would be terribly  As much as it hurts, i'm doing it because it's time for a major life change! This is the beginning of the photos. I'm going to include more technical information about the customization as i get it all gathered together. This is unlike any other Mini on the road. It's the ultimate performance car. It is, simply put, my dream car. Whomever ends up a partner to this beautiful piece of engineering is going to be one lucky dude/dudette!!!

The headlights used to be blacked out but our DMV wont allow that here so i replaced them with new HALO LED headlights. There is a small burn mark on the back seat that was there when i got it :( These are the things wrong with the car. oh, it has a new power steering pump installed in August 2013 :)

Next BMW X1 moving to smaller, lighter FWD-biased platform

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

BMW's decision to make the upcoming 2-Series Active Tourer front-wheel drive has been polarizing to say the least, but like it or not, that is the direction the company will go in the near future - one rumor put the number as high as 23 front-wheel-drive models for Mini and BMW combined. The next-generation X1 won't send all its power to the front wheels, though, when it launches in early 2016. While it will use the same platform as the Active Tourer, rumors suggest all models will use all-wheel drive - at least at launch.
A "high-ranking," unnamed BMW manager confirmed to AutoWeek that the new model will switch to transversely-mounted three- and four-cylinder engines and the same six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions as the Active Tourer. The new, smaller platform will allow for more efficient packaging, and despite the smaller size, interior space will remain comparable. All the changes should make it significantly lighter too.
Don't start wailing just yet because BMW surely won't be entirely abandoning sporty models. AutoWeek claims that the Bavarians are working on a higher-output version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with power closer to 300 horsepower, about a 72-hp boost. It's also rumored to offer a sporty version of the X1 that may be called the X2.

Sorting through the rat's nest that is Mini's model history

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

What do Austin, Morris, British Motor Corporation, British Motor Holdings, British Leyland, Rover Group, and BMW all have in common? Each company has had a hand in bringing the world a sprightly, fuel-efficient, front-wheel-drive fun box on wheels - the Mini.
The Sir Alec Issigonis-designed car has been sold under more brand names and with more model designations than most of us would guess. For seven generations of the classic Mini, from 1959 to 2000, the car carried a bewildering number of model names as well. (Note that's even before BMW took over the nameplate, and starting building cars styled as "MINI" rather than "Mini" in 2001.)
As is its want, Hemmings Daily has taken the time to break down the complex lineage of the car, with a kind of model etymology that makes for a pretty entertaining read. Click over to the site to give it a go; but check out our gallery of classic Mini pictures before you jump.

Mini boss contradicts reports on production Superleggera, says Minor unlikely

Wed, Mar 18 2015

Mini has added to our green-beer-induced hangover with some disappointing news. The Mini Superleggera Vision Concept is not quite as confirmed as we had been led to believe. And making matters worse, the same high-ranking source that put the kibosh on confirmation of the stylish two-seater said he "doesn't see" a mini Mini. Mini boss Peter Schwarzenbauer contradicted yesterday's report in an interview with Automotive News, although he certainly doesn't oppose the idea of the Superleggera Vision. "I cannot confirm that it has been approved yet," Schwarzenbauer told AN, adding that it'd be a "great addition to the Mini range" and that he's "still pushing" for it to arrive in dealerships. That's good news for fans of yesterday's report. Schwarzenbauer is less of a fan of a small, entry-level mini Mini, based on the Rocketman Concept. "I don't see a smaller car than the current one," the exec said. It's long been rumored that Mini was readying a smaller, budget model that was more in line with the original Austin and Morris Minis, rather than the premium sub-compact model that BMW has been selling for the past 13 years. The company has even, allegedly, been in cahoots with Toyota to develop the new compact model. We reported as recently as January that the Anglo-Teutonic outfit and its Japanese partners would develop an entirely new platform for the Minor, although that certainly doesn't seem to be the case now. How do you feel about this? Does Mini need to get back to its roots with the affordable, Rocketman-based Minor, or should it keep on doing what it's doing? What about the Superleggera Vision Concept? Should Mini add it as a successor to the short-lived Roadster? Have your say in Comments. Related Video:
