Super clean, enthusiast owned, and nicely accressorized Mini Hardtop Hatchback Coupe finished in Jet Black over Black Leatherette interior and equipped with the 5spd manual transmission. This vehicle was a trade in here on a later model Mini S JCW and has been impeccably well maintained and cared for including a recent clutch and power steering pump. It has been tastefully upgraded by a Mini shop in Detroit and is without a doubt the best running, driving, and performing example I have ever driven. In fact, I would put it up against most S models. The car is all black with black interior and has had most of the exterior bright trim covered with a removable purple vinyl wrap material that will simply peel off if you don't care for it. In addition the chrome interior trim has been upgraded to a similar purple iridescent color, which is also removable. The car does have the factory optional multifunction leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise control, upgraded and gloss black 16 Sport Package wheels with excellent matching tires, Cockpit Chrono package, Upgraded perfromance exhaust, Upgraded brakes and rotors, Upgraded CD player with USB Aux input and Bluetooth, All brand new upgraded speakers just installed, Upgraded Mini cupholder, and much more. The paint and body of this Mini are in excellent condition throughout with no issues to be noted and no damage. The interior is super clean as well with no signs of abnormal wear, abuse, or smoking. Even the driver's seat bolster is in excellent condition. If you are looking for the sharpest, best running, well cared for, and fully maintained Mini you will find anywhere in this price range, don't miss out on this excellent example! Mini fesses up to Countryman clutch issue, plans fix
Sat, 10 Nov 2012Aside from the general lack of snow in the Midwest earlier this year that hampered our ability to properly play with our Blizzak-equipped Mini Contryman long-term test vehicle, the biggest problem we had with this crossover during the year we spent with it was the transmission. On four different monthly updates (September, October, November and June), all in the hands of different Autoblog editors, the Countryman's clutch was called out for being too finicky, leading to many stall outs. Apparently, we weren't alone in our assessment of the Countryman's clutch woes.
According to MotoringFile, Mini has updated the Countryman with a different clutch material and improved software. This much-needed change is being implemented starting this month, but Mini hasn't said what it is doing about existing 2011 and 2012 Countryman models that are afflicted with this problem.
Head over to MotoringFile to see the full official statement from Mini USA on this issue.
David Brown Automotive remasters classic Mini at maxi price
Fri, Apr 7 2017Just days ago, we reported that the British small-scale maker of luxurious, Aston Martin inspired coupes, David Brown Automotive, was about to introduce a new, cheaper vehicle positioned under its exquisitely priced Speedback GT model. Since the Jaguar-based Speedback GT costs a significant $753,000, there's quite a bit of room underneath it to introduce a more modest means of transport, without cheapening out. Now, details of the car, dubbed "Project 2," have surfaced, and it's quite a surprise. What David Brown Automotive has come up with is a "remastered," rethought classic Mini. While the car looks just like a Mini at a passing glance, the body panels along with the chassis are new, and the car has been given a smoothening. All the body seams that were commonplace on the classic original have been rounded off, and the interior is a custom job complete with plentiful leather and Pioneer touchscreen. The new dashboard is a little closer to Japanese retro cars than either the classic Mini or the current, BMW-made equivalent. The drivetrain remains the trusted 1,275cc original along with a four-speed gearbox; both are reconditioned units instead of box-fresh ones, but they feature brand-new parts. There's 79 horsepower on offer, which is plenty of poke for a Mini. Each of the cars will take about 1,000 hours to make, by hand. The plan is to build 100-200 of these Mini re-creations per year, at David Brown's new facility in Silverstone, England. In two years, only 11 Speedbacks have been built, so the Mini should create a bit more buzz at the workshop. But the price? Starting from $62,000 at current rates, going all the way to $86,000 if you want one with all the trimmings. A lot for a Mini, but it's going to be special. Related Video:
2015 Mini Hardtop 5-Door isn't for the country, man [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014We've seen it in super high-res glory, and we can even build one on the automaker's website, but the Paris Motor Show marks the official coming out party for the new Mini Hardtop 4 Door (which is what it's called in the US, despite this Euro car having "5 Door" badging). It's a stretched version of the third-generation Mini Hardtop, but with an extra set of doors for rear seat passengers. Think of it as a more useful Clubman, but with a lower ride height and less rugged-ness than the Countryman. Got it? Good.
Engine options carry over from the normal Mini Hardtop range, with a 1.5-liter turbo-three and a 2.0-liter turbo-four offering 134 and 189 horsepower, respectively. The rest of the car is everything else you know and love from the Mini range, just with a more spacious rear bench. And as you'd expect, there's a nearly endless pallet of customization options.
The Hardtop 4 Door arrives at US dealerships just before the end of the year, commanding a roughly $1,000 premium over its three-door kin. Scope out our new live shots in the gallery above, and take in the extensive press blast, below.
