2002 Mini Cooper S Silver/black on 2040-cars
South Lyon, Michigan, United States
Selling my MINI Cooper S. Just selling it to make some more room at
home. This vehicle was my summer car and did not get driven in winter.
1.6L supercharged inline 4 cylinder engine 6 speed manual Getrag transmission S Suspension Pure Silver Metallic paint Black Panther Leather Interior Premium Package Multifunction steering wheel w/ Cruise and audio controls Dual-Pane panoramic sunroof Automatic air condirioning Onboard computer Dynamic Stability control Roof and mirrors black Heated front seats Xenon headlights Engine is running a little rough and is burning a little oil. Nothing terrible, but commensurate with a car this old. Body is in great shape, no rust or major scratches. Interior is in good condition. There are a couple wear marks in the leather from going on 13 years of use, but nothing unexpected for its age. I have done all oil changes on time using Royal Purple synthetic motor oil. Oil filters changed at these intervals. Radiator flush and drain last done November 2013. Brake fluid changed in 2011. If you love MINI's you will love this car. The instant response of the supercharger gives it plenty of get up and go, and it is exceptionally nimble. It can be a very reliable daily driver as well. Add ons: Strut Tower reinforcer. (The earlier model years had some under-prepared strut tower mounting points which would occasionally fatigue and fail. I put these strut tower reinforcers on to preclude this from happening.) K&N Air Filter 5 point harness for driver and passenger (removable) I will accept cash and Paypal. NO, I will not WU you any money, for the scammer jacktards reading this. No, I won't send you any money, nor will you send me extra money only for me to send back to you... |

BMW will show Mini EV concept at Frankfurt
Wed, Aug 30 2017A month ago, BMW announced that it would electrify all its brands and model lines, including the Mini hatchback. A forthcoming full-electric Mini will enter production in 2019 at the Mini plant in Oxford, England, where the production line would join a German-built electric drivetrain with a British-built body. BMW notes that this will happen exactly 60 years after the original Mini hit the streets. View 5 Photos As the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show is upon us, BMW has introduced the concept version of the aforementioned electric Mini. The manufacturer says the color scheme chosen for the concept matches the previous electrified Mini, the experimental Mini E of 2008. That car was produced in a trial run of 600 units, and it provided BMW with valuable data as it was developing the i3 model, currently on the market. The Mini Electric Concept is powered by a lithium-ion battery, but no numerical specifications or range figures have been announced. It will be interesting to see whether the driving fun inherent to Minis can be translated, as a battery electric vehicle will undoubtedly be heavier than a fossil-fuel hatchback. The closed front grille stands as testament for doing without pistons or a need for engine cooling. 2014 Mini John Cooper Works Paceman All4
Thu, 14 Mar 2013The One Mini Should Have Taken Rallying
It needs to be said: Mini using the Countryman as their World Rally Championship racer's bodystyle of choice has done them no favors on the marketing front. And that's what it's all about in motorsports these days: marketing and image. We have just driven the 2014 Mini John Cooper Works Paceman All4 through Frankfurt's surrounding rural areas, and even in thick snow where few souls dared to tread, it has singularly rekindled some faith in the John Cooper Works sub-brand - a glorious name whose credibility has been threatened by portly and somewhat pointless products like the JCW Countryman.
The JCW Paceman is a little quicker than its Countryman relative, a little lighter, hunkered down lower, and better looking. We can't say we're crazy anymore about the stock Chili Red details and black exterior they keep showing us at these launches, but that's just paint. Then there's that projected pricing of $36k-plus that puts us on the verge of yelling "¡No mas!" But the All4 system on our 215-horsepower Paceman worked extremely well when paired with a set of exceptional Pirelli Sottozero Winter 210 Serie II tires (sized 205/55 R17 91H all around). The combination of all-wheel drive and good rubber encouraged us to gradually up the average speed and enthusiasm the further we drove along.
Remember that world-record jump crash? Here's every angle, including the human one
Sun, 22 Jun 2014While there are those who watch automotive exploits hoping (secretly or otherwise) for a spectacular crash, most of us are happy when everything goes smoothly. But at the end of the day, a daring stunt wouldn't be a daring stunt if there weren't some element of danger. And make no mistake about it, Guerlain Chicherit's recent long-jump record attempt was a daring stunt if ever there was one.
Chicherit, for those unfamiliar, is a French athlete who made the rare transition from "conventional" sports to motor sports. An accomplished professional skier, these days Guerlain drives a specially-prepared Mini Countryman in off-road events like the Dakar Rally and in death-defying stunts. Last year he managed to backflip his Mini and land in the record books, and this past winter he went after Tanner Foust's record by attempting a 360-foot jump at a ski resort in the French Alps. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
Despite several practice jumps at closer distances, the final attempt ended in a massive cartwheel crash in front of the gathered crowds. Several spectators published footage of the crash soon after it happened, but now GoPro has released a more comprehensive compilation showing the lead-up to the event and the jump itself from every angle - inside, outside and away from the vehicle. It's guaranteed to make you cringe, but remember that Guerlain miraculously escaped with minimal injury and will live not only to tell the tale, but likely to take another crack at it. Whether you're the kind to gawk at such a crash or not, the video below is worth watching.
