A 4-cylinder 2002 Mini-cooper, British RacingGreen with white racing strips and racing lamps. We are the second owners of this “very well cared for” vehicle since 2004. It has just over 88k miles. 90% serviced from two mini dealers – New Country Motors in CT and Mini of Peabody, MA.The balance of 10% services were mostly oil changes, tire purchases and rotations from local, well respected and qualified mechanics. We run Castrol oil in the mini and are religious about oil changes every 5k miles. We have all documents of services performed on the vehicle since having owned it now for nearly 10 years. We still use the mini and will continue to do so until sold. We average about 28 MPG. There are no tears, rips or mars on the leather. No holes on the emergency brake hood. No door dings, and factory paint still looks like new. This Mini is as clean as they come and is a must see. Car is garaged kept, located just north of Boston. Everything on this cooper is original including: -CVT transmission with a triptronic feature -Dual-tone full leather seats, front and rear -Heated front and passenger seats -Sunroof with sunshade -Spare tire -Cruise and radio controls on steering wheel -Factory Cd player -Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) -Factory fog lights -Glove box A/C -Front and side airbags -Many other up-graded options New all-weather Nokian Tires, WRG2 purchased late fall 2012. 50% brake life remains. $8,900 with the extended near bumper –to-bumper warranty from CNA National Warranty, sold by Mini-cooper of Peabody (40 months remain or up to 117,840 miles) for a one-time $50 transferrable fee. 2015 Mini Cooper Hardtop officially revealed
Mon, 18 Nov 2013There are occasions in life when something happens in the outside world and I think, "Damn. I wish Dad was here so we could talk about this."
In the past 13 years, that's happened every time Mini unveils a new model. And that's been quite often in the 12 years since the car was reintroduced - it has expanded to include seven different models, which is a testament to how quickly the updated Mini caught on. My Dad, who passed away in 1996, loved the brand. His first car was a Mini, and he'd race it in illegal rallies around the Irish countryside in his 20s, before he emigrated to the US and tried to (mostly) stay on the right side of the law.
Mini released photos and specs for the third-generation "original" hardtop car today. The company had to slap in the term "original" in there to differentiate it from the Convertible, longer-wheelbase Clubman, Countryman crossover, Paceman three-door crossover, Coupe and Roadster. Coming out with that many nameplates in 13 years is unprecedented growth for a company that's essentially brand-new in the US.
Top Gear caught filming Best of British near Buckingham Palace
Mon, 24 Jun 2013YouTuber and car-fan extraordinaire Shmee probably had very little trouble tracking down the Top Gear film crew recently, as the group was putting together an episode that could accurately be described as "excessive." With its flag-waving (literally) Best of British theme, the TG guys gathered a jaw-dropping array of British cars, and parked them all right in front of Buckingham Palace to make extra sure that the point was driven home.
Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were outfitted with a trio of Jaguar F-Types festooned with gigantic Union Jacks, with which to survey the landscape of British motoring glory. In the video below, you'll see that this includes any number of Mini, Aston Martin, Lotus, McLaren, Land Rover, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models (just to name a few), as well as a healthy dose of weird stuff that most people would never guess at being built in the UK. The lawnmowers and military vehicles are especially cool.
Mini wins Dakar Rally for fourth year in a row
Sun, Jan 18 2015Motorsport in its various forms tends to be characterized by eras of domination: Red Bull in F1, Audi at Le Mans, Citroen and now Volkswagen in the WRC. That's certainly the case with the Dakar Rally. After years of domination at the hands of the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Volkswagen Touareg won the famous rally raid three years running. But these days, it's all about Mini. The Anglo-Saxon team won the Dakar three years running, locking out the podium last year in positively dominant style. And now it's won again. After some 5,600 miles spanning three countries across South America, the Mini All4 Racing machine piloted by Nasser Al-Attiyah of Qatar, with France's Mathieu Baumel as co-pilot, has taken the top step on the podium in Buenos Aires. The duo won five out of 13 legs to claim the race, marking the first win for Baumel and the second for Al-Attiyah, who won with VW in 2011. It would have been a podium lockout again for Mini had it not been for Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz, who placed their Toyota Hilux in second, with additional Minis finishing in third, fourth and fifth. The troubled Peugeot 2008 DKR driven by Stephane Peterhansel ultimately finished in 11th place. American driver Robby Gordon finished first in his class, but 19th overall. Things were even more predictable in the other categories. The Kamaz team from Russia won the Truck category for the third consecutive year (and the twelfth since 2000). Spanish rider Marco Coma won the Motorcycle category on his KTM 450 Rally – his second consecutive win and fifth win overall. And Poland's Rafal Sonik won in the Quad class, which has been taken on a Yamaha ATV every year since the rally moved to South America and the category was instituted.
