1976 Mini Cooper, Austin, Morris on 2040-cars
Spring, Texas, United States
1976 Mini with 1996 Japanese Market Specifications. RHD
For starters, I have owned this car for a little over a year, and it has been an absolute pleasure to own. A "bucket list" car, but now it is time to move on. I bought as you see it here. Only changes I made was painting the roof white, doing the front brake pads (EBC Greenstuff) and rotors, and adding a K&N air filter. This car drives great. The Single Port Injection is absolutely flawless. It starts instantly, no pumping the gas or messing around with carbs. The clutch is great, the gearbox shifts perfectly. The car leaks nothing and does not smoke. It has not overheated on me on 95+ days with the A/C on. It has just over 47,000 KM, less than 30,000 original miles! When I looked for one of these I had to have A/C living here in Houston, and the A/C works great on this car. Only the Japanese market cars had factory A/C and good percentage were the slush box automatics, this makes this car desirable with the 4 speed and A/C. The exterior is not "concourse". I buy my classics to enjoy and drive. That being said it is very good to excellent driver quality paint. The bumpers are stainless steel and so are the door mirrors. I take this car to the local cruise-in and everyone loves it. These guys with their 100k Camaro's don't stand a chance when I am parked next to them. This car gets all the gawkers. If you hate attention, this is not your car. Glass is all excellent, no chips or scratches. Weather stripping is all soft and pliable along with the window felts. Interior is just about excellent. Someone prior to me had beautiful seat covers and door cards put in with green piping to match the exterior paint. All the gauges work. Beautiful Momo walnut steering wheel with billet spokes and walnut Momo shift knob. Carpet is also in great condition. Burl walnut dash showing a little age, but nothing that detracts from the car. Burl walnut door caps. 12" alloys with like new Yokohama tires. Car has one fuel tank, fuel cap on the passenger side (left side) is legit. Driver's side (right side) is a "dummy" cap Car has genuine HID headlamps. The 4 yellow driving lamps are not hooked up, but do work. I have tested them. Bose speakers are rear parcel shelf. 6 Disc Panasonic CD player underneath the rear seat. You need this as the radio is tuned for stations in the eastern hemisphere. If you want a Mini that you can get in, drive and not worry about getting "road worthy" by all means bid on this car. This is not a "concourse", "for points" car, but is absolutely perfect for a British car show, or any other car show for that matter. The fuel injection and the A/C make this car much more tolerable and "modern" than most classic Minis out there. I know you have already looked at the pictures. You've worked hard this year! Treat yourself to this little stock stuffer a few months early. Email me at baprickett@gmail.com or call me with questions 281-814-8504. You won't be disappointed with this little mini. I'll surely miss it! $500 non-refundable deposit required 24 hours after auction ends. Full payment required within 7 days. If you need help with shipping I will do my best to help you out. Please check with me BEFORE the auction ends. Pre-bid inspections are encouraged and welcomed. Again, do this BEFORE the auction ends. I have nothing to hide here. If you live in Texas, I could possibly deliver it to you for a fee, CHECK WITH ME FIRST! |

Mini Hardtop Four-Door Carbon Edition breaks cover [UPDATE]
Wed, Nov 11 2015UPDATE: Mini USA sent a announcement with official details and pricing for the Carbon Edition, which is available below. After an $850 destination charge, the models cost $37,100 with a manual gearbox. Mini doesn't offer the John Cooper Works trim on the Hardtop Four-Door, but a handful of US customers can now order the next-best thing. The new Carbon Edition satisfies the needs of enthusiasts wanting extra power to go with the two additional doors, but Mini will only offer 150 of them here. The Carbon Edition starts with the Hardtop Four-Door Cooper S and then layers on the John Cooper Works Pro Tuning Kit to create a 208-horsepower hot hatch. An upgraded exhaust with Sport and Track modes also comes with that package, according to MotoringFile. For extra style, they all wear a JCW body kit in Midnight Black, and there's a heap of carbon-fiber trim to fit the name. Matte black stripes amplify the menacing look and feature a little Carbon emblem cut into the ones on the sides. Additional improvements include LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, and JCW interior trim. The array of improvements don't quite take the Carbon Edition to the full 228 hp from the JCW Hardtop Two-Door, but Mini spokesperson Mariella Kapsaskis tells Autoblog that the US product team handpicked these parts to get as close as possible. If this limited-edition, four-door hot hatch intrigues you, get on the phone with a dealer soon. According to Kapsaskis, the first examples are already at dealers, and the Carbon Edition might not last long with just 150 of them on the road. The Carbon Edition combines the already powerful MINI Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door model with the new John Cooper Works Pro Tuning Kit, valve exhaust system and high-grade carbon fiber accessories. The result is 208 horsepower and an ultra-aggressive exhaust note with Sport and Track Mode*. The exhaust flap is operated wirelessly via two clicks of the Bluetooth controller and unleashes devilish backfire pops and crackling sound on the overrun. Genuine carbon fiber mirror caps, air intake trim, and tailpipe finishers are offset against Midnight Black metallic paint and exclusive matte black sport and side stripes accented by a red pinstripe.
2021 Mini Countryman shows off its fresh face
Tue, May 19 2020The 2021 Mini Countryman has been spied once again, and it has shed some of its camouflage. We get a really good look at what appears to be the base Countryman's new front and rear fascias, updated taillights and interior. Otherwise, the little crossover is mostly unchanged. Up front, the bumper changes from three large grille openings to one standard one, and it gets the same slats as the grille between the headlights. On either side are big, round fog lights, which are themselves flanked by openings that probably create wind curtains around the wheels. Looking at the headlights, they have new internals with more squared-off projector surrounds. We also get some good looks at the John Cooper Works model. The shots of it at the Nurburgring give us a good look at the front, which looks generally unchanged with the same front bumper as the current car, but possibly with a new grille and headlight design. At the back, the car reveals new Union Jack taillights similar to those introduced on the Mini Hardtop and Clubman. Another photo shows what seems to be a John Cooper Works Countryman with part of a cloth cover lifted. This shows the rear bumper is mostly the same, but it gets a new mesh grille pattern over the rear diffuser area. Finally, we get a look at the interior. Most of it is the same, but the instrument cluster loses the analog dial of the current model. In its place is the oval-shaped cluster from the Mini Cooper SE electric car, which likely combines analog dials on either side with a screen nestled between. These changes are all relatively minor, and seem to be production ready. As such, we would expect the changes to be introduced for the 2021 model year. The reveal could be later this year. Of course, it's also possible the changes could be pushed back in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. Related Video:
Mini shows how to camp in style
Sun, 21 Jul 2013If you're the type of person who loves spontaneous road trips and camping, and Volkswagen's Camper Vans aren't your style (or you can't find one for sale in the US), then Mini has what you're looking for: the Clubvan Camper, Cowley caravan or Countryman ALL4 Camp. Unfortunately, Mini says there are no plans to offer any of them for sale. And no, this doesn't seem to be a recycled April fools joke, in which Mini touted the Swindon Roof Top Tent and Cowley.
Let's start with the Clubvan camper, a curious prototype that has a sleeping area for one and an extendable kitchenette featuring a stove and chest fridge. And we say curious because, in addition to not being offered for sale anywhere at this point, the Camper is based on the Clubvan, which was just pulled from US dealerships due to low sales volume. This thing definitely isn't coming to the US.
The Cowley caravan, named after Mini's historic factory in England (known today as Plant Oxford), can be towed behind a Mini vehicle and features a sleeping area for two, a twin-burner gas stove and a water tank complete with pump and sink facility. It looks quite comfortable in there. The Cowley uses a solar panel to charge its onboard battery, and it has a 230-volt connection to power the fridge and entertainment equipment.
