2011 Mini Cooper B-spec Race Car Scca Road Racing, World Challenge , on 2040-cars
Eastlake, Ohio, United States
A professionally prepared race car, that was raced once by the original owner in the first Grand Am race at Miami-Homestead Speedway.
Since purchasing the car last season I have not had any mechanical problems with the car.My first race was the 2013 National at Mid-Oho where I was on the podium in my first weekend driving the car. I have driven the car two weekends so far this year. Mini has an SCCA logbook, and has passed tech inspection for 2014. You can literally take this car straight to a race weekend! I have two race seats available to be purchased with the car, one for drivers under 200 pounds, and the other is a big boy seat. Also have lead weights that can be used to adjust the total weight, and adjust corner weights to suit the new owner. Car comes with extra set of front and rear CarboTech brake pads, and a few other spares. I have a rebuilt title for car, the car can be streetable. Car can now be seen in Cleveland ,Ohio ,by appointment. Call 304-343-2277 for details. Willing to assist new owner with pick-up of the car, buyers responsibility to make transportation arrangements. We reserve the right to cancel all bids and end an auction early should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. The successful high bidder will submit a $500 deposit within 1 Day of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. The buyer agrees to pay remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 7 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before transport of the vehicle. |

Mini knows how you take your coffee after a test drive
Thu, 11 Oct 2012Mini Netherlands wanted to give its countrymen a good reason to test drive its cars, so it threw in a free cup of coffee with the spin - but not just any old cuppa joe. Cars were fitted with a sensor that analyzed the driver's style. The chip was then placed in a special coffeemaker that produced a blend to match the driving; middle-of-the-road test pilots would get a lungo (long) coffee, test-the-rollcage types were given a ristretto (short, and stronger).
The knock on the head for U.S. drivers? Milquetoast test drivers were given an Americano - a watered-down espresso. You can watch the unique promotion at work in the video below.
Sorting through the rat's nest that is Mini's model history
Sat, 13 Apr 2013What do Austin, Morris, British Motor Corporation, British Motor Holdings, British Leyland, Rover Group, and BMW all have in common? Each company has had a hand in bringing the world a sprightly, fuel-efficient, front-wheel-drive fun box on wheels - the Mini.
The Sir Alec Issigonis-designed car has been sold under more brand names and with more model designations than most of us would guess. For seven generations of the classic Mini, from 1959 to 2000, the car carried a bewildering number of model names as well. (Note that's even before BMW took over the nameplate, and starting building cars styled as "MINI" rather than "Mini" in 2001.)
As is its want, Hemmings Daily has taken the time to break down the complex lineage of the car, with a kind of model etymology that makes for a pretty entertaining read. Click over to the site to give it a go; but check out our gallery of classic Mini pictures before you jump.
Mini lineup could expand to include up to 10 models, still no hope for Rocketman
Tue, 12 Feb 2013During an event in Ponce, Puerto Rico last week where Mini introduced members of the media to the 2013 Paceman and John Cooper Works GP, product planners discussed that the brand's lineup could expand to eventually include up to 10 bodystyles. Currently, the Mini range consists of seven models: the Hardtop, Clubman, Convertible, Countryman, Coupe, Roadster and Paceman.
Speaking to members of the media, David Duncan, Mini USA sales manager, said that these new models could fall into a range of niches - "any segment that makes sense for a small car." No specific vehicle classes were discussed, but Duncan stated that the possibilities are endless, "as long as we're the smallest player in any segment."
Well, nearly endless. We've been hoping that Mini would re-think its decision to nix plans to create a vehicle smaller than the Hardtop - a notion previewed by the excellent Rocketman concept (shown above) from the 2011 Geneva Motor Show - but the automaker once again stated that this is absolutely off the table. In order to create a vehicle of the Rocketman's size, a completely new platform would have to be engineered (that's expensive), and while Mini has looked into acquiring existing architecture from another brand, parent company BMW has reportedly put the kibosh on such an act. If a Rocketman is ever to be born, BMW/Mini will do it on its own, and right now, that simply isn't in the cards.
