This car is the very best vehicle you can have - if you always wanted a motorcycle but were afraid to ride. No helmet required - your friend can sit next to you, and you can still smell the BBQ & fresh cut grass as you drive through a neighborhood. It is in good enough condition to drive anywhere - like Las Vegas, (range is about 280 miles per tank) but not so pristine that you are afraid to leave it in a parking lot. It has enough power for freeway travel, and to get up into the mountains, enough charm to be in parades & shows, and enough cargo room and agility to be super useful for projects around the house. this car is NOT a numbers-matching preserved authentic heritage vehicle - but the only Chinese parts on it are the seat covers. If you love Moke's this is your chance to get an unusual, unique and super sweet ride you don't have to dump a bunch of money & time into. I have a lot of extra parts - like front grilles in orange, white and purple - which may be available. I have metal - like fender panels and trim - some of which were supposed to have been already used by the last guy who did body work on it. He did it his way, instead of how I requested - and the rust is peeking through after several years. There is certainly room for some improvement = I would put spring suspension in it - but it is very use-able just as it is. ***Please note - the speedo and stated mileage are in KILOMETERS!!! a NOS engine and NOS speedo were installed together during an amateur restoration also involving poor prep pre-paint. SO - in MILES - it is about 10,500, and it goes about 68. One time, late at night on a deserted freeway, going downhill with a tailwind, I think I might have seen 135 (83) for just a second. Or it could have been a gnat in my eye. But I also sometimes have to drive in the margin far right of the slow lane because it can't keep up on extended hills (Cajon Pass). The 998 and other associated mechanical components have all been kept at or near stock configuration.

The original Mini Cooper still has universal appeal
Wed, 10 Sep 2014It sold over five million units. It was voted the second most influential car of the last century, bested only by the pioneering Ford Model T. It counted among its owners Steve McQueen, Enzo Ferrari and Peter Sellers. It is the classic Mini.
The tiny, two-box, four-seat hatch is an automotive icon of the first order and it's high time it featured in an episode of Petrolicious. Of course, the video gurus did it right, filming this handsome 1971 Mini, which has been modified to accommodate the 1,275-cc four-cylinder from the Mini Cooper S of the time.
Its owner, Sumner Norman, describes life with his right-hand-drive, UK-spec Mini. Naturally, he points out some of the idiosyncrasies inherent with a car built under the guise of British Leyland, including some of well known reliability woes, which he says is the car "going British." Mostly, though, he just seems to have a good time with the little hatch.
Will the Mini John Cooper Works GP get an electric sidekick?
Tue, Nov 3 2020Mini will beat most of its rivals to the burgeoning electric hot hatch segment by releasing a battery-powered variant of the John Cooper Works GP, according to a recent report. If the rumor is accurate, the British brand's second series-produced electric car will also become one of the quickest models it has ever put its name on. Enthusiast website Motoring File spotted what looks suspiciously like an electric John Cooper Works GP testing in Germany, and unnamed sources who are allegedly familiar with the company's plans confirmed the model is currently being evaluated. None of the insiders said the model has been confirmed for production, however. It's too early to tell what will power the electric GP, or how closely it will be related to the Cooper SE. We're curious to find out how Mini will offset the battery's weight; the gasoline-powered GP (pictured) tips the scale at 2,855 pounds, while the SE weighs in at 3,153 pounds. Granted, a generous amount of instant torque can help the hatchback overcome its extra pounds, but masking it on a twisty road will require serious chassis wizardry. If the rumor is true, we'll learn more about Mini's next electric model in the coming months. It might arrive in showrooms in 2022, likely priced above $50,000 and possibly as a limited-edition model. For context, the existing GP is limited to 3,000 units worldwide, and pricing starts at $45,750. Mini made its commitment to electrification clear when it pegged its future on crossovers, the Chinese market, and electric cars. It confirmed it's developing an electric crossover that will be about as big as the Countryman, and it stressed electrification will spread across its range in the coming years. It's not planning on ditching gasoline- and diesel-powered engines soon, though; it wants to give customers what it calls the power of choice. Who else is in the game? Electrification still hasn't reached hot hatch land, and Mini's rumored electric GP would be one of the first cars of its kind. Volkswagen has often hinted it wants to build a spicier version of the Golf-sized ID.3 sold in Europe, but we haven't seen the model yet; the firm is understandably allocating its resources to ramping up production of volume-oriented models, like the ID.4 crossover. Across the pond, Renault transformed the humble Zoe into a 460-horsepower, four-wheel drive superhatch in 2017, but the project fizzled before it spawned a production car.
Mini Rocketman back on the table, might go aluminum
Thu, 18 Sep 2014Mini just doesn't want its Rocketman concept to die. It unveiled the truly mini model at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and since then, there have been countless on-again, off-again rumors about the possibility of it going into production. If the latest talk proves true, a smaller vehicle like the Rocketman might make it into the automaker's lineup after all, as competitor to other stylish city cars like the Smart ForTwo.
According to the company's head of design, Anders Warming, speaking to Auto Express, Mini likes the idea of having a smaller model in its lineup, but it has to figure out a way of actually making it work. Warming is clear that the next iteration of the Rocketman concept (or whatever it's called then) won't be seen until a design is ready.
There are still plenty of challenges keeping a production Rocketman off of the city streets of the world, and chief among them continues to be finding a platform. But Mini is at least considering it. "At the moment, we don't have the right tech solutions, but we are working on it. We don't yet have a final solution, you could say," said Warming to Auto Express. He also thinks the final version would drop the concept's carbon fiber in favor of more aluminum components.
