i have owned (and loved) this car for nearly 11 years, but divorce and employment (lack there of) forces sale. i would love to keep it but i will not be able to do to this car what i would like to do, it was with that realization that i have decided to let her go to someone who will carry on the torch. i have owned and garaged this car until this year and it has never ever broken down or let me down in 11 years of ownership. i have many receipts/invoices and can name every single mechanic that has touched this car under my ownership.  this is a good candidate for a show car but also a solid candidate for a daily driver or uber dependable second car.

1970 Morris Mini - totally rebuilt as 1994 Rover Mini 1300efi - 35th anniversary edition replica
clear title in my name
i paid $15,500 in 2002
34,000 original miles
*i feel pretty confident that the car was sold to me as advertised with 17,000 when i purchased the car 2002
i am third owner (was imported from Holland by second owner)
all owners took great care of the car
very solid driver
unique paint job for mini with color changing at hip as opposed to the traditional top
rare full length webasto electric folding top - works well, have noticed its operating quite slow in the extreme cold, otherwise always used. nice because it the larger of the 2 sizes and opens all the way back.
beautiful tan hide seating with contracting blue piping - i have driver seat set up to bucket with but cushion can be firmed up with included metal hooks.
burl walnut dash - only 1 area i would call a scratch
6 CD changer under passenger seat - i hate it and would change the stereo. works well, but would want MP3 wire hook up, etc
everything works, nothing is broken or missing
1,375cc tuned fuel injected power plant
some simple mods made by second owner for performance but they do not affect reliability like adjustable shocks and performance cam.
fast and fun as all get out to drive.

this is the mini that mini guys check out

the mini as an undeniable icon of motoring in the 20th century, they are timeless, elegant yet understated. youthful and fun yet refined.

very reliable, drive it anywhere in the country (with new tires)

this is what i would do on the car but know i will not have the time or money to do so:
- localize and eliminate rust in next 1-2 years. it is not bad, it just needs doing. Rough estimate for rust repair $1,000-1,500.
~drivers rocker panel is about 10% rusted. drivers base of the door post is about 5% rusted. passenger side rocker is about 10% rusted. spare tire wheel well in boot is about 30% rusted and will need replacing. no other known rust issues.
- touch up paint and general buffing and polishing and small dent removal on driver door.
- replace wiper blades soon.
- detail photo shows tear in headliner at one of the sunroof bends. that tear has been the same size as the day i bought it and has never grown despite i open the top almost every single dry driving day.
- car has had recent pre-purchase inspection and has been on lift. i can share photos of underside of car as well and contact information for experienced british car shop that completed the inspection.
- that is it, the car really is in pretty great shape.

- 4 Brand New Hight Quality Tires being mounted this week (march 14 at a cost of $480)

please, if you have specific questions or want detailed photos let me know. i have many and would be happy to take any pictures you instruct. i will also take video to do a live video chat so you can direct the camera over what you want to see.

i am honest and transparent. what you see is what you get, just ask. about $500 worth of extra new parts come with car including all new rubber for the glass and new plastic wheel arch flares.

Mini John Cooper Works GP spied with wide body, big wing

Wed, Feb 13 2019

The Mini John Cooper Works GP was just announced to have over 300 horsepower, and we got an early glimpse at it with teaser images. And now one of our spy photographers caught the car with very thin camouflage. The spy photos reveal that the Mini GP is sticking fairly close to the Frankfurt concept, but toning everything down a bit. At the front, the Mini GP clearly is using the current John Cooper Works hardtop front bumper, but it does have deep chin spoiler additions that allude to the GP concept's massive splitter. The grille has been revised, and the gloss black lower sections are now made of a matte black mesh design. The slot in the middle could have red accents on each side like the red stripe on the concept. The front spoiler blends right in to the new extra-wide fender flares. While the fender extensions don't protrude as far as on the concept, they're otherwise very similar in how they sweep backward at the tops and stand away from the body to allow air to flow through. Something else noticeable from the side are the enormous front brakes. The rotors nearly fill up the wheels, and the calipers look really beefy. The five-spoke wheels on this prototype will be replaced by GP-signature four-spoke wheels as revealed by teaser shots. The back of the GP looks about how we would imagine it. The split rear wing is roughly the same shape as the concept's, but a little narrower. The bumper has a big diffuser area that doesn't necessarily look functional, but should at least look cool. The rear exhaust tips look bigger than normal Mini John Cooper Works models. The Mini GP will go into production in 2020. Only 3,000 examples will be built. We suspect the GP will use the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the BMW X2 35i, which makes 306 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with weight savings, possibly involving a rear seat deletion, and upgraded suspension, and this should be a shockingly fast Mini. Related Video:

2020 Mini E caught in the Alps with concept looks

Wed, Jul 11 2018

The upcoming full-electric 2020 Mini E hatchback has been spotted in the wild, specifically the Alps. One of our spy photographers caught it while recharging. Fans of the concept shown at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show will be pleased to see that this more production-ready car takes many cues from the show car. Unsurprisingly, the car does look pretty much the same as the standard Mini Hardtop. It has the round lights, broad grille section and upright Mini body. Differences show up first with the grille. Most of it is solid, which is understandable since an electric car typically doesn't need the amount of airflow an internal combustion car needs. There is a strip in the middle that is open, evident by circular cutouts. This is also a design that was featured on the concept, in which the two halves of the grille were solid, with an open slot dividing them. The rest of the bumper appears to be the same one used on the standard Mini Cooper Hardtop. The sides of the car also seem to be identical to the normal Minis, but the wheels are unique to this electric iteration. They're cool four-spoke alloys that have aren't completely symmetrical. Three of the spokes are open and finished, but one has some additional metal, and it seems to connect with the center section where the lug nuts are. There will probably be a cover that goes over these sections. The overall look is directly taken from the Frankfurt concept. At the back, the electric Mini still looks like a Mini, but with no provisions for an exhaust pipe. It also uses taillights from the pre-refresh model, but with some neat hexagonal texture on the lens. These will probably be replaced by the new Union Jack taillights, though. The interior continues the current Mini looks. The seats do have an interesting upholstery. It looks a bit like a gray denim. This production Mini E Hardtop should arrive sometime next year, in keeping with BMW's promise made with the concept car's reveal. Specs are unknown, but we hope it will be comparable in power with the original Mini E introduced for the 2009 model year. That car had an impressive 204 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Hopefully the new model will also improve on the old car's range, which was about 150 miles according to BMW. Related Video:

Mini officially reveals Frozen Black Countryman and Paceman

Sat, 19 Oct 2013

BMW has been offering Frozen editions of its cars for several years now highlighted by matte paint and very limited production, and now Mini is getting in on the game with Frozen Black versions of the Paceman and Countryman. Unlike our report from earlier in the week, these models will not wear the Batman-sounding Black Knight name, but instead, like the BMW models, will be dubbed Frozen Edition. That previous intel also had it that production of the Frozen Edition Minis would be limited to just 60 units. Now official, Mini has not confirmed how many - or few - of these limited edition models it would build.
The Frozen Black paint adds silicates to the lacquer finish creating a "matted impression," which sounds like it should be easier for owners to maintain and wash, although Mini still advises against waxing or polishing. This special paint will be offered on all S, Diesel and John Cooper Works versions of the Paceman and Countryman, though it's not clear as of this writing if any will be offered in the US. Mini's press release for the Frozen Black Paceman and Countryman is posted below.
