The item up for your consideration today is a 1963 Austin Mini. This car was imported to the U.S. from New Zealand in early 2001. I purchased the car from the import agent on Ebay shortly thereafter. In the twelve years that I've owned the car, many updates and improvements have been made. They include the roof panel being painted in Old English White. The addition of and later removal of Brand New genuine Minilite (4.5X10) wheels and new Kuhmo 145-R10 tires followed, which go with the car. Several years later I decided to go back to the original look. I then had the stock 3.5 x 10 steel wheels blasted and powder coated, and shod with another set of new Kuhmo 145-R10 tires that are on the car now. I've also replaced the 850 cc engine with a highly desirable 998 cc Cooper engine with the 12G295 cylinder head and then detailed the engine compartment. About the same time, the interior was all redone in the original pattern with the exception of the headliner which is in excellent original condition. Deluxe bumpers with over riders and corner bars were added to complete the Mk I series appearance.

This is the genuine article, period correct 1963 Mk I Mini. It has all of the character traits of the day such as slide-by door windows, mustache grill, external door hinges, internal pull cords, push button starter, and small tail lights. It also has all of the New Zealand documentation and some details specific to the Minis built there. Some of these are amber colored rear turn signals and riveted body trim. The dealer added heater unit by National Radiator Co. is currently not working. There is a New Zealand number plate on the front AF6390, and last but not least, it is a right hand drive.

Over the years the car has been very dependable and a lot of fun to drive. It starts, runs, drives, and stops very well. The car has received the best of care and pampering during my ownership. It is also very clean and free of rust as can be seen in the pictures. It has won many awards at local and regional shows as well as one national show at Rockford, IL. Those trophy's however, are not included.

As mentioned before, the Minilite wheels and tires along with all the hardware, spacers, lug nuts and studs for the rear wheels are included. Also included are four repair manuals, a huge stack of Mini, Mini World and Practical Classics magazines plus two boxes of new, spare and old parts. Mini owners never throw old parts away. A high quality indoor/ outdoor custom fit car cover recently purchased from MiniMania is also included.

I live in Stevens Point, Wisconsin  54482 (central part of the state) and will assist your shipper as much as I can. I require a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of auction end to my PayPal account and the remaining balance in the form of a Cashiers Check before the car is released. The car does have a clean and clear WI title. Please email me for my phone number if you have any questions. I also have countless other photos, too many to put in this auction which can be emailed to you.

Thank you for looking at my auction.

The Mini John Cooper Works Rally is set for Dakar

Wed, Nov 16 2016

In recent years, there have been convincing Minis tailored for rallying: Dakar wins were accumulated with gusto. Now there is a new version for 2017, named the Mini John Cooper Works Rally. Its debut will be the 2017 Dakar Rally running through Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina. The new rally car has been built with experience gathered from rallying the earlier Mini All4 Racing, and it's based on the Countryman. Key areas reworked were the aerodynamics and the weight distribution to enable a lower center of gravity. As X-raid (Mini's motorsports partner) CEO Sven Quandt puts it: "The center of gravity has gone down substantially – we placed about 50 kilos [110 pounds] downwards by some 50 centimeters [19.7 inches] in the center of the car, which helps the handling and makes the car much more comfortable over all types of terrain, and aids the handling on a rally track with lots of corners." There is a new chassis frame, and the powertrain benefits from an updated engine mapping and thermal management. The interior has also been redone. Speaking of the powertrain, the Cooper Works Rally runs a 3.0-liter straight six from BMW's turbodiesel portfolio. In this guise, the TwinPower unit produces 340 horsepower at 3,250 rpm and a very respectable 590 lb ft of torque from 1,850 rpm. The retained ALL4 four-wheel-drive system has a six-speed SADEV sequential gearbox, together with lockable, oil-cooled Xtrac diffs with a central SADEV unit. The 2017 Dakar Rally runs from January 2-14. Related Video:

2015 Mini Cooper snapped uncovered on the road

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

The third generation of reborn Mini is nearly upon us. Just look at the trail of breadcrumbs the Anglo-Saxon automaker has been leaving us.
First we saw the upcoming new Mini Cooper, spied from above at a photo shoot, which Mini was quick to point out was not its best angle. Then BMW's retro-hatch division showcased the Mini Vision concept, and followed up just yesterday with details of the new engines and chassis that will underpin the latest model. And now we have the clearest batch of spy shots we've seen yet.
Not only were these shots taken from a better angle, but also show the new Mini in the more tempting Cooper S trim - complete with hood scoop, split-spoke alloys, roof spoiler and twin central exhaust tips.

Mini Superleggera patent renderings suggest production prospects

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Mini impressed us all when it revealed the Superleggera Vision concept at the Paris Motor Show a couple of months ago. But even before the little roadster concept debuted, there were already rumors of its production potential. And those rumors are only being further entrenched by the emergence of a series of patent renderings. Bearing much more than a passing resemblance to the concept, these images show what could be a revised, production version of the Superleggera, though not without its concessions to reality. For one thing, it looks like it's got a proper framed windshield, but it's hard to tell with the roof in place – something we never saw on the concept, either. It's also got more substantial wing mirrors, but the fin on the rear deck is still there, as are the extractor vents on the hood. We also note that the grille openings are the same shape as the concept's. Of course, the emergence of these images and their filing with the relevant authorities doesn't necessarily mean that Mini is moving ahead with the roadster's production. But if it did, it would likely ditch the concept's electric powertrain, and could stand to fill the void left by the discontinuation of the maligned, outgoing Mini Roadster that was essentially a scrunched Cabriolet with a cowling where the rear seats and stacked roof would be. Parent company BMW is likely taking into account that its rival Daimler didn't have much luck when it slotted a unique roadster of its own into the Smart lineup, so here's hoping that if it does give the Superleggera the green light, it'll have more success in the marketplace.
