Fully restored and sorted car that needs nothing other than to be enjoyed and driven.   Over $12,000.00 was spent on a professional rotisserie restoration to the body (see pictures for full details
of the bodywork done).   There is no filler whatsoever in the body and it is as absolutely as perfect and rust free of an early Mini as you will ever find.  Stunning black base coat/clear coat paint
with yellow stripes has been on the car for over 15 years and looks as good today as it did the day it was done.  You will not find nicer paint or bodywork on an early mini.

The motor is a .040 over 1275 built by George Bauchman of Midwest Motorsports and it is built to as hot of a street motor as can possibly be built and still run on pump gas.   Pistons are Hepolite cast pistons with 10:1 compression and the head and cam were done by George and it has his limited prep H production cam.  The motor makes an estimated 100 to 105 horsepower and it is a very streetable motor that pulls smoothly from 2000rpm all the way to 7000rpm and has all ARP hardware throughout and is on a 45DCOE Weber and Aldon distributor for better driveability.

The gearbox is a rod change and has a limited slip differential installed and puts the power down through 10" Revolution wheels and Yokohama A008 tires.

The brake lines are all -3 braided teflon lines with an adjustable in-line Tilton blade adjuster unit.

Virtually every nut and bolt was new when the car was restored in 2002, and every suspension piece was either nickel plated or zinc plated (see pictures)  All suspension components are fully adjustable
from Mini Mania.

The car has an 8 gallon ATL fuel cell (with sending unit to dash guage), plus high output fuel pump and Holley fuel pressure regulator.

There is a custom fully carpeted interior with matching Corbeau seats, and Autometer gauges.   All lights and electrics work perfectly.

The car was built as a hot street car that could be enjoyed as is and also occasionally be autocrossed.   If someone desired, it could also easily be converted to a vintage race car with the addition of a roll cage.

There is well over $35,000 invested in this car and it is ready to go and enjoy.

Xcar takes the Mini Challenge, and it sounds awesome

Wed, Jan 28 2015

The third-generation Mini is well and truly on sale in markets across the world. The new four-door model should be arriving soon, if it isn't already on sale in your neck of the woods, and the latest John Cooper Works model made its official debut just a few weeks ago at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. We aren't going to be talking about any of those right now, though. That's because our chums at Xcar took it upon themselves to sample the third-generation Mini Challenge racecar, a 275-horsepower, hardcore, fully committed competition version of the otherwise adorable Mini Cooper S. At roughly 30,000 British pounds (about $45,200 at today's rates) there's a lot to like about the Challenge car. Aside from a gutted cabin and aggressive aerodynamic kit, the racer has been fitted with slick tires, a Quaife sequential gearbox, adjustable dampers, Alcon brakes and a consequently lower curb weight – under 2,600 pounds with an average-sized driver. It's fair to say the Challenge driving experience figures to be unlike your typical road-going Mini. And considering that, we think the folks that built the car, Total Track, have fulfilled their promise of delivering a "touring car experience at a fraction of the cost." Have a look at the Xcar video and let us know what you think. Be sure to crank up your speakers, because the Challenge sounds excellent.

Drive On The Left | The List #0033

Thu, Jul 14 2016

When you've been driving on the right side of the road your whole life, driving on the left can be incredibly disorienting. In this episode of The List, hosts Jessi Combs and Patrick McIntyre brave the traffic-filled streets of London as they take in the sights in a Mini Cooper. "London is not a driving city. There are millions of people and millions of cars," said Patrick. "And the streets seem to have been laid out at random over the centuries." Even Jessi found herself battling old habits in the right-hand drive Mini. "I've already gone over to reach for the door twice to shift it," she said. Our hosts dig into the history behind the traffic swap on the other side of the pond as they attempt to check "Drive On The Left" off their List. Mini Cooper five-door exists and has been spotted

Fri, 09 Nov 2012

The two-door Mini Cooper is getting two additional portals in its next generation. A coming five-door Cooper S with central exhaust has been spotted out testing, the idea presumably being that it will pose a better challenge to other small, premium hatches in the segment like the A1 Sportback from Audi. Based on the same UKL platform that will support the production version of the BMW Concept Active Tourer, the wheelbase has been lengthened to make more room for rear passengers.
It should be revealed on the auto show circuit at some point next year, getting buyers ready for its production in 2014. We'll find out then if it gets a special name and how it fits in with - or perhaps replaces - the Clubman.
