I have owned this TF-1500 since 1972. I beleive it is orignal incluidng the engine and drive-train, body, etc. I performed a ground-up restoration in 1975-76, but never installed a new interior. I still have all of my receipts. New corvette-yellow lacquer-paint was sprayed in 1976 that is still nice (except for chips). The car has been garaged and maintained since then and driven only about 3500 miles. It is mechanically excellent, and never had rust of any kind.
If you want a solid orginal MG-TF-1500 and to bring it to be one of the best: install the included grille/slats, re-paint, and install a complete-new interior.
Brief history: The orignal owner attended Purdue University. An englishman who owned a body shop in a small town in Indiana acquired the TF after the student had an accient involving the front-end. The car was unused until I discovered it at the englishman's body shop. He sold it to me when I promished I would not make a hot-rod out of it. I moved it Colorado in 1974. It has been garaged continuously. In 1975-1976, I did a frame-up restoration that included having the entire frame and suspension sand-blasted and painted with black epoxy. I over-hauled the engine and installed a new clutch. The transmission, drive-shaft, and differentrial were in excellent conditon and were not over-hauled. The 4 hydraulic shocks were replaced. The fenders, fuel-tank and running boards were removed and stripped to bare-metal. I hand stripped the body to bare metal. All chrome including all screws was re-chromed in 1976: condition excellent.
The wheels are Dayton-Wire Wheel with stainless steel spokes. The orignal painted spoke wheels are included and in faily poor conditon. The convertible top and tonneau cover are same vintage but look new (thanks to annual conditioning with Armour-All.
Since 1976, the car has sat in my garage most of the time, and taken out to keep it exercised. in the early 2000's, I replaced all brake rubber, rebuilt the master-cylinder, and have otherwise maintaned the car; never finding time to complete it. For the last ten years, I'd roll it out, drive it and then knew I could not bear to sell it. But now I want to move on with something else.
I have what I bleive is the orignal owner's manual and shop-manual. I have numerous spares I bought from Moss Motors over the years.
