Selling my 1955 MG TF 1500 project.

I have had it for 3 years in a enclosed storage unit and sadly is the time to sell it. Too many projects

This is a real TF1500 vin # HDP36 / 8787 was built on 10^th January 1955

The car rolls, brake and steers ok, it has a clean Florida title.

DETAILS;

ENGINE: It has an engine swap from an MGA 1600, this was done many years ago (sorry, I don't have the original 1500 XPEG engine), the engine runs with good oil pressure and idles, of course it will need some tuning and it does have an oil leak coming from the rear main seal. (I have heard that this is a common issue on this engines and is relatively easy to fix. check the mgaguru web page). Carburetors have been cleaned and a new aluminum radiator has been fitted. video of the engine running is available. Gas tank is out of the car, I have cleaned most of the existing gunk but it needs to get some leaks fixed and sealed. I do have a small plastic gas tank which I use for starting the engine.

BODY: Some rust spots, nothing serious, it has an old paint job, the car shines but on closer look it has cracked paint and some fading here and there. call it "patina" or just old paint... it does look shining. Previous owner put some metal floors panels on it instead of the wood ones. they are ok just a couple of small rust holes, anyways I would return it to the original wood floor panels. Also because it has an MGB brake master cylinder the sheetmetal surrounding it has been cut and it would need to be finished. Same goes for the firewall panel which was in part cut off in order to put the 1600 engine.

ELECTRICAL: Lights work, as they should, however I would redone the complete electrical system, as it is not the original one. Besides that this are almost 60 years old wires....

BRAKES: It has an MGB master cylinder swap with hanging pedals, it does work quite well, brakes have been gone through. they are working ok.

Gauges are not working, and the tri-gauge is missing its internal components. It does have an external oil pressure gauge just for testing purposes. It goes with the car

All in all, while not for a purist, this is a very nice project car with lost of potential, it has a more powerful engine but still being an MG one, better brakes and that old fashion look that get all the glances in the street. Besides that is a very easy car to work on, it doesn't require a highly skilled person or special equipment to perform most of it needs, you can do a complete nut and bolt restoration or just make it a fun driver, it is up to you. Anyways this is the REAL thing, NOT a kit car with a VW engine or a V8 engine.

Original bumpers and overrides go with the car as well as a brooklands racing windshield
