I am selling our very special 1954 MG TF. This car is in excellent condition, not a 100 point car, but extremely nice. It is a car that can be proudly driven without fear and yet stand up to almost any inspection with grace and elegance. It is the perfect color combination for this car… bright red with a tan interior.
The paint is nearly perfect, as is the interior. The increasingly rare disc wheels are straight and clean as are the hub caps. The chrome all around is nearly flawless. The car has newly replaced rear axles, front shock absorbers, fuel pump, clutch linkage, and rear suspension parts. The convertible top is older but without tears or damage. I have never used it so it was never a source of concern for me. I have three of the four side curtains and, again, I never used them so I didn't purchase a fourth. They are available if one chooses to complete the set. There is a new tan Evolution 4 fitted car cover along with a cloth tonneau cover that you see in the photos. This cover is folded behind the seats and can be pulled up to cover the entire interior. It, too is in very good condition. I have owned the car for two years and, as I understand it, am the fourth owner. The car was originally sold in Atlanta GA in late 1953. I would not be selling it except we are moving to Hawaii on June 1st and we can't take all of our vehicles with us. (We have had a very good mechanic in the Columbus area but the odds of finding someone as knowledgeable on the Big Island is pretty remote.) There is some smoke upon start up and some oil drips from the engine. (If anyone has ever seen an MG of this vintage that doesn't drip oil I would like to hear about it!) The car runs very well and handles nicely. It has been recently tuned with all new plugs, wires, cap and points. There is no slop in the steering and the brakes are in very good repair. The tires are nearly new. The mileage on the odometer is 2517 although, obviously, it has to be more than that. (The previous owner thought it might be in the 65,000 to 70,000 range.) I have only driven it about 500 miles during the time I have had it and it has been garaged and covered during the winters. Not sure what else I can say about this beauty other than this is definitely the time of year to have it. It never fails to get a lot of thumbs up, smiles, and honks from other drivers and pedestrians. Truly a classic piece of automotive history. The last iteration of the T series, the car that started the sports car craze in the United States following WW II. Thanks in advance for your interest. |
