This low mileage original MGB roadster, built August 1976, has spent its entire life locally in the Upper Connecticut River Valley within miles of our home. It has only 27,381 miles from new and we are its third owners. Prior to our purchase, it had been stored since at least 1988, and therefore was off the road for approximately 25 years. We obtained it through a local auto service garage whose owner has known the car since virtually new and woke it up two years ago. Since then we have driven it periodically and enjoyed it lightly. It never fails to start and can be enjoyed as it is. It looks gorgeous but it has flaws that in the scheme of things are minor.
The orange color scheme and black striping and MGB logo are original to this car, although we believe that it has been at least partially repainted in that original color once. The seats and interior remain original. We believe the top is original also. Likewise, the trunk interior remains original. For an original car of 37 years age, it is in remarkably clean and sound condition.
Included and stored in the trunk are: top boot, tonneau cover, and original jack and handle in bag. The battery is new. Tires are low mileage and two are brand new.
Nevertheless, as an unrestored car, there are improvements that one could make to it. For example, there is a small patch of corrosion in the front left fender panel, just behind the front left wheel and below the black stripe. A very minor scrape runs horizontally for about 8 inches down low in the black stripe just to the rear of the driver's door. There is a split running front to back in the center top of the dash. There are a couple of minor tears in the seat bottom cushions, though they remain very useable as is and do not look shabby. The carpets are tired and could do with replacement, probably the single most impactful upgrade to the car's appearance. A few of the wires have been cobbled up but anyone with experience could easily put them straight. The convertible top fasteners are pulling free only at the lower front corners, but the top otherwise is in excellent shape. The driver's side-view mirror is missing.
Having disclosed these faults, it should again be noted that this is a very good car overall that has not been messed about or abused or used up and could easily be brought back to first-class condition by a knowledgeable buyer who is interested in tinkering and supplying the appropriate TLC while useing and enjoying it immediately.
