Up for bid is this freshly gone over 1969 MGB GT. It runs and drives fine and has original color Pale primrose acrylic emamel paint over good epoxy primer. All the metal work was taken care of including new cross member, jack points with reinforcing pieces, new inner and outer sills with inner membrane, new floors, fenders redone with good steel, all rust is gone. Some of the mechanical work that has been done is: new brakes, front and rear with new master cylinder and lines; New handbrake cable; new clutch cylinder, new alternator, new coil, rebuilt SU HS4 Carbs; Complete tune-up including plugs, points, & condenser, & 2 oil changes . It didn't need much more. The compression (160= in all 4) and oil pressure (60 PSI at idle) are excellent and the engine runs fine. Looks like the original engine as the numbers are in the right range according to the Moss catalog. I currently have it on the road and drive it a few times a week, just passed New York inspection. It shifts through all gears well and is a 3 syncro trans. This car came in with a "donor car" and we took a year to go through it make it run good and assemble one great car. It did not need much of the donor as it was in very restorable condition to start with. It is in the original color - Pale Primrose. The engine was not removed and the engine compartment is original. I did not take out the heater box or motor to troubleshoot, but that and the speedo are not working right now. I'm thinking the cable is needed for the speedo. The odometer is showing 51,400 miles but the speedo did not work when I got it. This will be a great driver to the new owner. It is all there and original. There are still a few things to sort out on her: The speedo, heater, no radio yet.
If you want to drive this car as is you can, the body and frame are ready for real everyday use for a long time to come. It's also an excellent serious restoration candidate, as the expensive and time consuming metal work and mechanical are done already. The few minor details left are no big deal and the kind of thing an enthusiast will enjoy detailing with - without a big investment in time and money.
This comes with restoration records including a folder of all parts and a CD with pics and vids of the whole process from teardown to finish...
I bought this car to restore and drive and then found an earlier car - a '67 B GT - and I need to get into that car, and I can't keep both, but it's on the road now. She's here and ready for you to view and test drive. Please call 845-336-6671 or ask questions before you bid.
There is a sister car (donor car) mentioned in my retstoration jounal on my page at "The MG Expeience" on-line car club which is not included in this auction. Parts of the body have since been slated for another project, althought I still have the original '69 - one year only - "chiclet headrest" seats (in need of recovering) and a minty dash/console left over along with a bunch other '69 parts interior and exterior, suspension, etc. Feel free to ask about any parts you may need.
This car is offered for PICK-UP ONLY in the upstate New York area. I will assist with loading her on a flatbed from my garage. At the end of auction the winning bidder must immediately deposit $500.00 into Paypal as a deposit and pay the remainder upon pickup.
