Mga 1958 1500 Roadster Time Warp Low Miles *low Reserve* Rare Glacier Blue on 2040-cars
Novi, Michigan, United States
You are viewing a very rare 1958 MGA 1500 Roadster time warp example. Being offer at a "low reserve".
I am reluctantly offering my MGA Roadster up for sale to make room for a new purchase. Vin #: HDL43/60481 Engine # 15 GB-U-H 50824 Color: Glacier Blue with Black Leather Interior Clear "Michigan" Title Mileage: 30,100 I will be adding more pictures within the next few days. I purchased the "A" from an MG enthusiast that had acquired it from a good friend of his whose wife was the original owner of the MG. He told me that the MG was her "college" car and that it had seen very little use over the years. It was purchased from a well known British Leyland Dealer - "Selden Mayse" in Springfield Missouri - the dealer "badge" is still on the trunk as shown in the picture. Always garage stored and covered. I was told that the miles are original and the title showed that as well. Based on the condition of the car and interior, I believe the miles to be correct, but cannot guarantee. I do have a copy of the previous title which shows the miles as being correct. Has 2 old inspection stickers - 1st is from Iowa dated 1973 and the 2nd is from Missouri dated 1996. The MG is essentially all original and has not been restored. It is what I would consider a driver quality example that is turn key and ready to be driven. Looks beautiful and always gets plenty of compliments. The color really sets this MG apart from all of the other "A's" on the market. With most MGA's being Red, White, Black or Green, the Glacier Blue really is a unique a rare color which makes it very desirable. This example is completely stock down to the original factory shift knob and wire wheels. Mechanically, the MG runs and drives great. It starts easily at the pull of the choke. Has good oil pressure and does not smoke or make any strange noises. The battery/charging system works fine and the battery has never gone flat. Clutch and transmission work fine but does have some typical weak 2nd gear syncro. The MC has started leaking a little bit, so it will need to be rebuilt or replaced. I have a new rear muffler I ordered from Moss that I will be installing this weekend. The engine compartment looks very tidy and original with no modifications. Tires are old "bias ply" which supports how much of a time warp it is and how little use it has seen over the years. Has the correct "spare" wire wheel as shown in the trunk picture. Brakes work fine with no known issues. Cooling system is fine with no issues as well. The interior is in very nice original condition as shown in the pictures. Considering it's over 50 years old, I would say it's very well preserved. The dash is in great shape with a factory radio "block off " plate. I believe most of the interior is original except for the carpet mats. Everything else including the door panels appear to be factory original, however I am not an MG expert. Still has the original factory "Banjo" steering wheel that is in nice original condition however there is a typical "split" in the rim of the wheel. The banjo spokes are all in good condition. The body is in very nice condition showing no exterior rust. It has an older repaint that is very close to the original factory "Glacier Blue" color. The original color can be seen in the engine compartment, trunk and the area behind the front seat and under the dash as shown in the pictures. The paint looks very nice, but would probably be considered driver quality. It has held up quite nicely considering that the paint work was done years ago. There are a few chips that have been touched up as well as a scratch on the right front fender that was also touched up. The rocker panels were repaired at that time, and were not done factory correct as shown in the pictures. They look fine, but did want to point out that in case it is not noticed in the pictures. The underside shots show that the MG is very solid underneath including the frame and floors. Rust is limited primarily to the driver's side inner rocker panel and inside the rear wheel well as noted in the pictures. The under side is all original and has not been cleaned up or detailed and looks very well preserved considering it's 55 years old. Both front and rear bumpers are in good original condition and also the front grill. Trunk is in nice condition with no rust issues. Has a period correct "amco" convertible top that is in excellent condition. Rear windows are quite clear, and the top fits very nicely with no issues fitting the snaps. Top frame works nicely as well. It did not come with side curtains which of course was never an issue since it's always used on sunny days. In summary, this is essentially an all original unrestored MGA Roadster. Far from perfect, but a perfect weekend or fair weather "driver" for the MG enthusiast. Would make the drive to work a bit more enjoyable and a perfect way to start and finish your day! The MG is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided. Please have your finds in order prior to bidding. Shipping is up to the buyer to arrange. As stated, the MGA represents a wonderful opportunity for the MG enthusiast that is looking for a solid example at an affordable price. Comes with a clear Michigan title. The buyer should expect other normal wear and tear items to be addressed that would be expected of a 55 year old vintage sports car. Sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I have done my best to describe the MG to the best of my ability, however there may be some things that I may have missed. It is up to the buyer to do due diligence when making a purchase online.
