You are bidding on an absolutely stunning (and fun to drive) 1959 MG MGA. The car had a complete concourse restoration in 1988 in Ohio and at the time was part of a story in the December 1988 ImportCar & Track magazine. After completion of the restoration, the car went on to be recognized in many shows. I have personally shown the car in the last couple years and have been very pleased with the results even after that many years since its original restoration. The vehicle is registered with NAMGAR (North American MGA Register) #1926 - 1959 1500 Roadster HDR43/65336 Chariot Red. Prior to the restoration in the late '80's, the car was white as shown in the photos (this is also consistent with the body tag #'s).

Prior to me becoming the owner/caretaker of the car, it was owned by a gentleman whos goal was to have the car as a reliable Sunday driver. He and his wife would trailer it up to Door County, WI each fall to drive it around and see the fall colors. Over more than a decade of his ownership, he made several changes to make the car reliable and work out the gremlins that typically plague these little British cars. I have close to $20,000 in receipts for service and work that has been completed. Needless to say, this car is back to level that is at home as a Sunday countryside driver, on the track or even drawing a nice crowd at any show (including the Milwaukee Masterpiece this past August). This car has proven to be very reliable and very fun to drive. Here are some of the many items that have been done already:

2011 - Alternator conversion for reliability (original generator available), front disc brake upgrade

2010 - Rebuilt 1800 cc engine, clutch, exhaust header, new gas tank

2009 - Rebuilt Transmission, shocks & many misc. items

2008 - Fuel pump

2007 - Wiring misc.

2003 - carbs (original carbs available) and refinish

Much of this work was completed by a very reputable MG shop near Milwaukee, WI that focuses their entire business on MGs. Based on conversations with them, they indicate 'that car needs nothing but to be enjoyed'.

While this is not a Twin Cam car, with the 1,800cc MGB engine you can have the performance and style at a fraction of a cost of a twin cam MGA.

The car comes with the original tonneau, side curtains and a full cover. The car is equipped with the original RadioMobile radio; however, I have not even hooked it up to see if it works (I have a new radio delete plate too). Also included are many of the original parts (generator, carbs, etc.) in the event the buyer wants to put them back on for originality purposes. All awards, trophies, silver bowls and a folder with all maintenance records, some specialty tools and old photos are included with the car.
