1957 MGA. Only 184 miles since frame off restoration completed in 2006. Records of restoration will be provided to the purchaser. This car has all the bells and whistles and comes with extra parts and a rare un-restored fiberglass hardtop. The car has been garaged since restoration. Most all of the structure is powder coated and the new plywood floor boards are rhino coated. This car was restored to last by KJ Auto Restorations in Anchorage. The car won first place in the foreign car class in the Alaska Custom Car and Cycle show in April 2006.
History
Records show two previous owners. William Jeremian Carpenter who sold the car to Aaron C Garret in 1990. Aaron disassembled the car with the intention of restoration prior to a serious airplane crash injury which caused his sale of the car to my wife and I in 1997. The car came substantially dismantled with a last license plate dated 1969. We have that plate as a keepsake.
The engine number had been removed and was never found. The car is registered as a 1959 but the cars number is HDL43/42352 which when researched places its manufacture in approximately November 1957.
The car was professionally appraised by Alaska Classic Motion in 2010 for $35,000.00. The appraisal put the condition as excellent to very good. The Appraisal is available upon request.
The car has performance exhaust header, stainless steel exhaust system topped off with a free flow muffler that gives the car a distinctive attention getting engine sound.
The engine was rebuilt and the crankshaft ground for balance. The transmission was rebuilt and minor chipped gears replaced. Carburetors were rebuilt along with instruments and many other components.
Many new parts were used inclusive of front fender mirrors, luggage rack, fog lights, tri pod headlights, gas tank, leaf springs, shock absorbers, burled dash, MGA grey carpets, black emblemed floor mats, aftermarket sway bars, wind blocker, Brooklands steering wheel, sun visors, wind wings, five CD player in place of radio, new distributor, alloy valve cover, etc. etc.
The car has wide white walls with new 60 spoke wire wheels including the spare. The car is painted in a 2006 Jaguar sea foam green with tan top and tonneau cover.
The car includes; side windows, car cover, owners workshop manual, Original MGA Restoration Guide, an extra new wiring harness, the original transmission parts --still good
This car is as close to new as they get. A fun ride to say the least...
