1952 MG-TD Midget.  Mg's roadster that boasted 77mph top speeds and 22mpg! Fun car to read about, a lot of interesting stories from the local car guys too.

You are looking at a well loved MG-TD. This car was purchased by the current owner In 1994 and received a complete body off restoration between 1994 and 1997. The owner used the car primarily for tailgating and picnics. It was always stored in a climate controlled building and is started regularly. Approx 3,674 miles has been driven since restoration.

Everything is in working order, drives great. Lights, wipers and gauges all work. Has some fluid leaks which I believe to be very common on not only with British cars but older restorations as well.

Interior is in great shape showing minimal wear on driver seat. Car has a soft top with side screens as well as a tonneau cover. one side screen has a small crack in the plexiglass. Exterior driver door handle not working at the moment.

Exterior looks great even though the paint and chrome have never been polished since the restoration. Just a quick wipe down down with show and shine. There are a few paint bubbles on the lower edge of the front fenders ( see pic). The car shows very well, very straight with very nice paint work.

Clean and clear KY title, have almost every receipt from the restoration and any maintenance repairs since.

Inspections are encouraged and welcomed @ storage facility  www.502autoclub.com

Overall great car, older restoration showing minimal wear or age. Useable for driving or shows as is! Needs another family that will enjoy it as much as the current owner does.

Comes with driver cap, gloves a matching ladies scarf as well as MG blanket  and chairs for the perfect roadside picnic!

Car is for sale locally, so may end early. Reserve is much less than what was invested during the restoration. Car is located in Louisville 40222.

 Thanks for looking!

The 1950 TD Midget combined the TC's drivetrain, a modified hypoid-geared rear axle, the MG Y-type chassis, a familiar T-type style body and independent suspension using coil springs from the MG Y-type saloon: a 1950 road-test report described as "most striking" the resulting "transformation ... in the comfort of riding". Also lifted from the company's successful 1 1/4 -litre saloon for the TD was the (still highly-geared) rack and pinion steering. In addition the TD featured smaller 15-inch (380 mm) disc type road wheels, a left-hand drive option and standard equipment bumpers and over-riders. The car was also 5 inches (130 mm) wider with a track of 50 inches (1,300 mm).

For the driver the "all-weather protection" was good by the standards of the time. For night driving, instrument illumination was "effective but not dazzling, by a pale green lighting effect". There was still no fuel gauge, but the 15 US gallons of tank capacity gave a range between refuelling stops of about 300 miles and a green light on the facia flashed a "warning" when the fuel level was down to about 3 US gallons.

Nearly 30,000 TDs had been produced, including about 1700 Mk II models, when the series ended in 1953 with all but 1656 exported, 23,488 of them to the US alone. The main complaint that US owners had with the MG TD sold in the US was the British 12-volt electrical system, which was hard to service when most US cars were still using 6 volts. Also, they had minor complaints over the lack of water temperature and fuel gauges. But in general in surveys, owners of the Americanized MG TD had more positive remarks than negative.0-60 mph time was 22.7 seconds according to popular mechanics.

An example tested by The Motor magazine in 1952 had a top speed of 77 mph and could accelerate from 0–60 mph in 18.2 seconds. A fuel consumption of 22.2 mpg-US was recorded.
