You are looking at my 1963 MkI Midget in exceptional original condition.  This car lived it's life in southern California, I am the second owner.  While in my possession, it has been stored indoors in a heated environment.  It has been driven on nice days.  I have owned this car for six years

It is very rare to find a midget in this condition and that is what attracted me to the car to begin with. there are a lot of Midgets out there and most of them are a lot cheaper than this one, but.... they are usually rust-ridden, (even if you can't see it - don't ask me how I know :) ), a newer and far more common model, and usually have been through a lot of not-caring-too-much owners.

What separates a MkI midget from the 1964 and later models is its utter simplicity.  There are no roll-up windows, no door handles, the windscreen is different, the doors, the switch gear is much simpler (i.e. the turn signal switch is a toggle), the interiors less cluttered, 1/4 elliptical rear springs, the top uses the sticks and removes completely (does not fold down),etc.  This version was built for a bit more than a year.  The MkII and later were built for another 16 years, therefore they are cheap, rusty and rather common, that said, I'd challenge you to find a MkII or later in this original condition, they aren't that common either when it comes right down to it.

I am selling this car because I am losing my storage at the end of March and have a fairly large collection, I'll only be able to keep a couple and the two I am keeping have a sentimental value to me.

The specifics of this car:
It is clear it has been loved over the years, not left out, and not neglected.  It has been driven, but just over 2k miles per year.

Mechanics:
Engine: starts, runs well, no smoke, pulls strong (for a 1098cc) no unwelcome noises
Transmission/Clutch: Shifts properly, stays in gear in every gear under all conditions - no unwelcome noises
Rear end/Drive train: Quiet and proper
Brakes: All work well, adjusted properly
Steering: Small play, not sloppy at all, but it isn't like a new Porsche (that said, it is like driving a go-kart)

Electrics:
The Tach works but does not return to zero - it may work itself out, but I would have it rebuilt
All other electrics work with the exception of the radio, which was working, now has static - could be a connection, I just not sure.  It is an original radio though, which is very desirable and there are specialists that can repair them if needed.

Paint and Body:
The paint appears to be completely original on this car.  That said it is 50 years old, great shape and shines, but it is not showroom, clear-coat perfect.  There are some scratches, small touch-ups (years old) and 3-4 small dings.  You would expect this. For me, originality is king over restore, and it's one big reason I like this car.  The rubber seal under the windshield is cracked, serviceable, and easily replaced (4 screws remove the windshield)

There is no rust on this car other than some very minor spots of surface rust. There is some dirt/grease in the corners of the door openings.  I have looked, I have included photos of the spots where rust usually is found in these.  The spring mounts are solid, the jack points are solid, floors are solid and have not been replaced.  This is all original metal.

In other words, this is an original car that can be enjoyed and is not an original car that needs a restoration to be enjoyed!!

Interior:
The interior has been replaced at some point in the original style, it's correct, and looks good, not "too new".

The steering wheel has some cracking, visible in photos, but hard to discern, so I want you to know.

Items Included:
Top - good condition - looks original to me, but hard to say
Top sticks - complete
Tonneau cover
Side curtains - good condition
Jack

The car is not driven often, I have several MG's and other cars in my collection.  I am telling you this because you may have it for a week and find that a fuel line needs replacing, a carb gasket, etc. it may also run perfectly for years.  I went to start my MGA the other day and the little rubber seals under the float bowls were leaking, they weren't when I parked it a few months ago.  I know there is nothing major wrong with this car at all, but I cannot predict the life of some of the small parts - or Lucas, the Prince of Darkness!! I last drove this car the first part of December 2012, and at that time all was good!!

I am describing this car to the best of my ability. Please email me with any questions whatsoever and I will happily answer them for you.  If you buy this car, and upon inspection do not want it for any reason, I will refund your money less the deposit.  I am confident that anyone would be happy with this car.  I can store the car until the end of May in my heated space at no charge to you, I will happily work with you or a shipper to get the car to you.  If you happen to live within a couple hundred miles of me, I might be able to deliver it for you in an enclosed trailer for a fee - I emphasize might, I have the equipment, but may not have the time.

As they say, they're only original once...
