1979 Mg Midget, Repainted on 2040-cars
Riverton, New Jersey, United States
I purchased this vehicle in
September of 2013 from my neighbor. It
was a birthday present for my wife, who, unfortunately, is no longer permitted
to drive due to illness. Hence, I need
to sell it as my inventory of vehicles is already excessive. Here is what I know about the vehicle: The previous owner was an
adult [mid 50’s] female who owned the vehicle for about 20 years. It has always been garage kept. It has 112,000 miles on it. Paint is in excellent condition. Car was repainted at some point in the past,
but not sure when. Appears it was painted to closely match the original MG brown color, but with the addition of some metal-flake to enhance the color. The tires have plenty
of tread left on them, but they are old.
The convertible top appears to be original and it does have holes in it
and should be replaced. Previous owner
never used it because it was never driven in the rain. There is a small gravel chip in the
windshield which I treated with a repair kit.
It is not in an area that would cause it to fail inspection. Car comes with tonneau and boot covers which are in excellent condition. My mechanic [British car
specialist, Motorcar Garage LLC, motorcar-garage.com] partially disassembled
the engine and treated it with various solvents and upper cylinder lubricants
to clean up the valves and valve stems.
The rocker arms were checked for straightness and they are ok. There is some surface rust at
the bottom of the rear panel, just above the jack location. The floorboards, floor and trunk are all
solid. The gas gauge is not
working. It may be a loose wire, bad
gauge, float problem… I’m not sure. The turn signals do not self-cancel. We have lived in this
neighborhood for 13 years. Previous
owner was here before we moved in. I
have rarely ever seen the car outside the garage, i.e., it sat for a long time. The car runs great and the
suspension is tight. Brakes are great. This is what I have done to
the car since my purchase in September of last year:
I purchased the car for $3750 and put another $1100
into it via my mechanic. I am looking to
sell it only for what I paid for it. No lowball offers please. |
