MG Midget 1978!!
This nice little MG is a quick project for the painter and you'll have a great little car. The fellow I got the car from recently, had built this car as a wedding present for his wife . He brought this car from Texas, and said there wasn't hardly any rust, and if their was any rust it was replaced with metal. He was a welder by trade.
He had rebuilt the engine, had the interior redone by a trim shop. The seats are very soft and comfortable. He installed a new top on her. New tires, and repaired the body and painted it.
Then his wife had been driving the car for a year or so when she pulled up behind their pickup truck and went into the house. Now for the bad. She had to run to the grocery store and ran out jumped in the truck, backed up, and hit the Midget. Damage was very minor. Basically top of passenger fender and hood got light damage. At that time he took the fender and hood off, repaired the damage and primed those pieces. After that he got sidetracked and the car sat for a few months until I got it. The last picture showing the front end is how it looked when I bought it. I cleaned it up a little bit just tinkering. I painted the wheels, bought new beauty rings from Victoria British. It just needed a good bath from sitting for a few months. I have the headlights, turn signals, bumper, everything to put the fender and hood back on.
I had plans to paint this car and sell , but I have been waiting on a guy to sell me his TR6 for a long time. Guess what! He finally called so I need to pass this one on so I can fund my TR6 purchase.
My opinion of this car is that it would be a very nice Midget with a paint job and some freshening up. I have played with these cars for 40 years, and this one is a good one. Engine starts and runs smoother, stronger than any I have ever owned. Interior is nice, could use new carpet a couple of new kick panels, and a dash cover to make the interior really pop. His bodywork is good, minimal work to shoot paint on the fender and hood. It is the old British racing green. I had planned on shooting it the correct Brooklands green. Transmission shifts good. I have only driven this car around my Cul de Sac due to him not bolting the hood and fender back on. I also have a bunch of Midget parts like rust free front fenders(pair) that will go with the car. I have a good front bumper, and back bumper. A set of doors, and extra odds and ends that came from me buying another parts Midget to get the front fenders for this one since I was going to repaint. All of the Midget stuff goes with the car. He did put a nice muffler on the car that's about 200.00 at Victoria British.
I am selling this car As-Is No warranties expressed, or implied. Winner responsible for pickup. Car must be out of here within a week, unless prior arrangements are discussed with me. I need space for my TR6!! No this car is not ready to drive across country, but could be ready without a whole bunch of work. Not a junk bucket of bolts like a lot of Midgets out there. I know I'm forgetting stuff but it really is a great start to a nice Midget. Thanks for Looking!!
