1977 Mg Midget Barn Find Off Road Since 1994, Wire Wheels, Needs Restoration on 2040-cars
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States
Looking for a winter project? Here is a great candidate for you! I found this one picking up another car on the back roads of Georgia and it comes completely intact with a fine layer of dust that coats it just about everywhere. It is a nice little 1977 MG Midget that is basically complete (except for the steering wheel which the owner took off so the car wasn't stolen and was subsequently lost) and looks to be completely original except for the stereo which looks like it was updated in the mid-80's. Odometer shows 57K miles. Same owner since 1990, still has the original Illinois title from when titled in 1990. Last registration on the plate expired in 1994. I love the car but I could never fit in this and have far too many projects to even attempt a restoration on this one for years so its time to find a new home for it. I know very little of it other than the engine turns over freely and rust is not terrible except for the front of the hood and surface rust on the rockers and a little bit of cancer by the jack plugs (pictured). Under the car is excellent, looks to maybe have been treated with an undercoating that has kept it insulated against the elements. Interior is decent, needs a good cleaning and the carpets are a bit faded. Floorboards have no rust (pictured). There is a dent that can be popped out on the driver fender. Top is good but the windows are bad. Comes with extras like a brand new spare wire wheel, tonneau cover, car cover (though it looks like it was a Saab car cover), lug wrenches and misc parts (pictured). Brake master cylinder is in a box, not mounted on the car right now. Left front suspension seems wobbly but car rolls fine. Tires hold air (one has a leak) but of course would need to be replaced. In all an easy winter project, I've taken a lot of pictures and they can tell you a lot more than I can but if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I can help shipping the car and if you are within a reasonable distance I can deliver for a reasonable fee. Thanks for looking! |
