My First Car. Hard to sell. Bought it in 1978. It's been stored in a shed for the last 27 years. Got it out a few weeks ago and made it road worthy. Started right up after some minor laying on of hands. I put in new master cylinders, clutch slave, and rear brake cylinders. Front calipers are in good shape. Still running a little rough, so I'll probably be adding a Weber carb this week but as of right now, the Weber is not part of the sale. I've been driving it around. Sounds good, feels good. I should have sold it many years ago but could never bear to do it. I have lived in Alaska for the last 30 years, where there are no roads.
It's best as a hobby car/driver. Great starter car for someone who wants to do tinkering and improving , but can drive it now. Engine runs strong, even w/ the SU's needing removal, cleaning and rebuilding. Tranny sounds, shifts, and feels good. Rag top is shot, needs a new one. Hard top is ok but needs rear glass. Have a tonneau and boot cover, good shape. Carpets are worn out or gone. Years ago I put an extra leaf in the rear springs to beef it up. Spring boxes look ok. Speedometer works but odometer does not. Tach and oil pressure gauges work but usually need a little tap at first to make them work.
It needs some body work and a paint job. Worst area is pictured: driver's door post (hinge area ok) is rotted through and the left rocker panel is repairable but should probably just be replaced, especially since they cost less than a hundred bucks. The bugeye nose is intact but has rust and bondo in places. I have the bugeye front bumper, which is straight but needs to be rechromed. Also have a few spare wire wheels. Most of the tread is still on the car's tires but they are old. I bought them used off a Midget organ donor. Doesn't seem to be any weirdness w/ the old tires yet but I haven't driven the car over 60 mph (carbs). As you can see, the bugeye nose tilts forward, like a Triumph Spitfire.
I have had uncountable great times in this car. It is not and may never be a show car. But it's fun and relaxed and comfortable, kind of like your very favorite old blue jeans or coat. A little scratch or dent will not ruin your day.
I can't guarantee that you can drive this any long distance. Remember, it's been off the road for 27 years and only driven around the island here for a week or so. I've probably put 50 - 100 miles on it and have driven it a bit every day.
Also, this car has been advertised locally. I am happy to discuss the car via email or by phone for Serious Buyers.
Also have a bunch of midget and bugeye stuff I am selling. Some stuff I will list in a day or two.
THE $500.00 PAYPAL DEPOSIT IS NOT REFUNDABLE!!!! THIS IS A USED, 40 YEAR-OLD CAR. PLEASE ASK ME QUESTIONS. I WILL ANSWER THEM AS BEST AS I CAN.
