THIS IS A PROJECT CAR- some assembly required! I am finally tossing in the towel on this project after 8 years and at least $22k in investment. The concept is solid, but I don't have the time or money to complete it. This is a 1972 MGB that I am installing a JDM import motor into. I have kept it registered (and insured) in Colorado, so it has a current title and plates. For more details about the project see my journal on the MG website: http://www.mgexp.com/journal/Wilbur. Here is a breakdown of the specifics, please email me if you have any questions. The body: 1972 MGB roadster (chrome bumper). The body was blasted to remove all paint, rust and bondo. New sheet metal has been welded in to replace rusted sections, and all seams have been welded as well to stiffen the body for the high performance drivetrain. Minor custom mods have been included: hinged gas filler door, filled reverse light pockets, front air dam, etc. The body is straight and ready for build primer and final prep for paint. Mods have been made to the engine compartment to fit the new motor, but this could be reversed to hold a stock motor or changed to accommodate a V6 or V8 is you are so inclined. Suspension: The entire front suspension has been replaced with coil over shocks, power steering rack, and large Willwood disc brakes with ventilated rotors on a custom fabricated cross member. What is missing is linkage between the steering column and the rack- will need to be custom fabbed. The rear suspension leaf springs and lever shocks have been replaced with a four link / coil over shock arrangement. The rear axle is stock MG tube type with new Quaife (posi) diff, new axles, seal and bearings, and disk brakes added. Drivetrain: The motor is a JDM SR20DET (redtop) motor with an automatic transmission. Lighter and more powerful than the 65HP stock motor. The SR20DET is a 2.0 liter, twin overhead cam, turbocharged motor NISSAN put in their domestic cars only- this model put out 205 HP from the factory. The motor should be pulled apart and rebuilt prior to firing it up, but I pulled the oil pan and it looks clean inside. I have a complete rebuild gasket set and oil pump for the rebuild. The wiring harness is uncut. I have an upgraded turbo, MAF sensor, intake manifold, and larger injectors, as well as an upgrade CPU, front mounted intercooler and 3" exhaust. With proper tuning, the motor will put out roughly 300 HP. The automatic transmission should also be rebuilt, or you could easily swap out a NISSAN 5 speed manual trans. The engine is mounted in the car on motor mounts, the exhaust is complete out to the rear bumper, and the custom intercooler is all plumbed. What is missing are the driveshaft (need a custom one), radiator and hoses, belt driven items (alternator and power steering pump), and transmission shifter linkage. Interior: I have most of the interior in boxes. New panels and seals, a pair of Fiero seats with (Mr .Mike's) black leather seat covers still in a box and seat heaters. Power window kit. No carpet. Dual hoop roll bar. Convertible top. Killer stereo system (Alpine head, four component speakers, subwoofer, and an old-school Soundstream 5 channel reference amp). Steering column is from a 95 Maxima (compatible wiring, tilt, fits in the dash, no airbag). Wiring will need to be done from scratch, but I have the old harness removed from the car. Miscellaneous: Custom aluminum fuel tank with internal high pressure fuel pump (larger capacity as well). New bumpers and trim, new tail lights, new headlights and trim. High performance chrome wire wheels with knock off hubs, new high performance tires. Boxes of spare parts and odds and ends. This will be an awesome ride when completed, and very unique. I am just sorry I can't complete it myself, but hopefully someons can. Thanks for looking.
