Here for your consideration is a 1974 MGB with fully functioning overdrive. 1974 was the last year for the chrome bumpers, and in 1975 the ride height was increased to comply with federal regulations.
The car was restored by the previous owner about 2 years ago, who stripped and repainted the car--replacing body panels as needed (so the body work was done properly). You can take a magnet to any point on the body and it will stick. The paint, while not original, was carefully done and shows well. Since that time, the clutch has been replaced, the interior updated with a new steering wheel and gear knob, and the heater core replaced. The dust and debris was cleared from the ducts so the heater can actually warm the car and clear the windshield--imagine that! The tires and brakes are new. The wipers are new and the top is clean with good visibility through the windows. The suspension is in good shape, and the transmission shifts cleanly through all 4 gears (overdrive on 3rd and 4th), so this is truly a no-fuss car that you can get in and enjoy. What's wrong with the car? Well, there is a crack on the top of the dash cover. MGs never came with racing stripes, so while they look great, it's not an original paint scheme. The overriders on the bumpers are missing (but are available from Moss Motors), and the battery has been moved from behind the seats to inside the trunk. It's actually much more convenient (and is a 12 volt battery rather than 2 6-volt units), but again--not original. It's not a concourse vehicle by any means, but also doesn't need anything to enjoy, and will look great at local shows. Consider it a very nice driver MGB, and you'll be happy! Please ask questions you might have prior to bidding, or come see the car in person. I will be happy to assist if you need to have the car shipped. |
