1974 MGB Convertible: for restoration.

You are bidding on a project car: a '74 MGB Roadster. I bought the with the intention of restoring it for my son, but competing priorities have prevented me from getting to it.

Solid car, 90% of the parts are here.  The body has very little rust, with the exception of the floor pans.  I have two, brand new floor pans sitting in the car over the old pans (you can see them in the pictures), they are nice Moss motors pieces.  They'll need to be plug welded in after the old ones are cut out.  Other than some surface rust, the car seems solid, even in the trunk area.

The body is in fair condition.  The trunk and hood are slightly sprung from the prop rods, a very common occurrence in these cars and nothing that can't be easily corrected.  The dashboard is removed, it is not in great shape, but has a cap that will make it presentable.  I've refurbished one set of gauges and tested them, and have another set for parts.  The dash would go back together easily.

I have not attempted to start the car.  The good news is that all of the engine pieces are there, even down to the twin SU air cleaners which are hard to find. I'm not sure what you'd find if you opened it up, I didn't get that far, but from the outside it appears to be in decent shape.  The transmission is a non-overdrive four-speed and appears to shift well.

The car has a new master cylinder and brakes.  They need to be bled, but pump up good, and stopped the car well when we towed it.

Most of the interior pieces are there.  There are new Moss Motors door panels in boxes (seen in the pics).  The original AM/FM British Leyland radio is still mounted in the dash.

The car has original, real MG knock off wire wheels, and has a fifth one as a spare.  Tires are dry rotted.  The wheels will need to be sand blasted and painted.  The wheels alone, in good condition, are worth what I'm asking for the entire car.

What else? New fuel tank. Seats are shot, but frames appear to be solid. Wiring is present, but scary... These old British cars were known for really bad electrical systems, so you'd be wise to go over it from nose to tail. The good news is that the harness isn't hacked up like a lot of them.

The front bumper and pan have been removed.  I set the grill in place for the picture.  All the parts are present to put it back together.

I've represented the car as accurately as possible.  What you're buying is NOT a weekend project and will take some work.  But on the other hand, this is the last of the Chromie MGs (they went to the big bulky bumpers in 74 1/2).  I've owned three of these cars and absolutely love them, but I know I'll never get to this one and don't want to see it sit and rot.

eMail with questions.  I'll be as honest as possible.  I have 500+ feedback and won't lie to you.

Local pickup.  I'll help with shipping if you insist, but the car doesn't run so it'll be expensive for you.  Plus, I'd rather you see it when you pick it up.  Terms: $150 at auction closing cash or paypal, cash balance on pickup.  Unless we arrange otherwise, if you don't pick up the car 30 days after the sale, you'll forfeit your deposit and I'll be free to relist the car.  But I'm reasonable... If you need time or help, let me know and we'll work something out.

Thanks!
