Up for auction tonight is another estate item. 1963 MGB convertible...this could be a great car for someone...the hard restoration work has already been done...now just finish up the easy stuff and enjoy...here is what I know about the car...
Here is what has been done...
Over the 10 years before I got it...the body had been taken completely apart and rust was repaired and floors were repaired...then the car was repainted and when it was repainted for some reason the the body shop filled 2 seams that I wouldnt have filled see pics...where they filled the 2 seams there is some minor bubbling...but there is no rust anywhere else that I have found...the upholstery and carpet was replaced and the seats are black with white piping and the carpet and dash are PERFECT...the top was replaced and the frame for the convertible top is in great shape too no problems there...the tires still look good and seems as though the wire wheels either got sprayed gray or something like that...the trunk floor is solid and there seem to be no weakness in the floor...but the trunk still needs the molding around the edge of the trunk...the doors shut tight and there are no rips in the top...even the engine compartment looks good...
Here is what I know that still needs to be done...
The problem is that the engine needs to be rebuilt...I have spoken with a few people and it is a fairly easy rebulid (simple pushrod engine) I know 1 cylinder is low compression and not sure about another...so I was planning on rebuilding it for me...but thought I might try and sell...I also know that the brakes will need some work a master cylinder my mechanic thought...and possible the pilot bearing for the clutch is stuck...I have found the parts for the brakes and clutch on line for around 500-600 depending on the quality...
This car is being sold AS-IS no warranty expressed or implied.
Any questions feel free to ask.
