Time to retire some toys need to go! This one is a 1963 1/2 Mercury Marauder S55. This car was as the story goes was bought new by a lady in the Los Angeles, Ca area. Was driven until 1979 when for what ever reason it was put in storage. It was brought out of storage early in 2013, two gentlemen in Florida purchased it, had hauled to Florida and did what is being called a preservation that included changing all fluids, going thru the brakes, new tires, installing a Petronix ignition and a new headliner and trunk mat. The mane thing was to make sure it was safe to drive after all those years in storage.

This is one rare car there was only 9615 63 1/2 fastback Marauder's built, of that only 2317 S55 versions and this is thought to be the only one painted the ultra rare F-code Pink Lustre paint.

To go along with the rare factor is the fact that according Barrett-Jackson archives they have sold only one 63 1/2 Marauder and it wasn't a S55 version. Also according to Mecum archives they have never sold 63 1/2 Marauder much less an S55. This the Mercury version of the 500XL there is a lot 500 XL's around so to speak but try find an S55!

After I bought the S55 I had some more work done, there was an exhaust leak at the manifolds new gaskets, automatic choke was missing parts, transmission was not working right had it rebuilt, fuel gauge not working had it fixed, brake hoses looked bad replaced.

This car is very much the way it came of the assembly line, very much original, the battery cables, the exhaust system, the interior. There is no sign of any body work, but the paint is a little thin in spots, the stainless trim is all great shape, the chrome is very good with some minor pitting. There is some sun damage to the top of the back seat, if you look close at the photos you can see it. There is also two seams coming apart on front seats that you can also see. The rest of the interior is very good shape in my opinion.

Look over the photos close, I have tried my best show the good stuff along with the bad. The car drives very good, runs out good, the miles are 24000 I am not sure of the exact miles but it is not over 24500.

Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday

Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.
