2004 Mercury Marauder on 2040-cars
Goodfellow AFB, Texas, United States
ride side on the door moulding there is a white mark from when my wife pulled the car in the garage. Most of it buffed out the rest is either paint the detailed couldn't get or the black paint rubbed off. Either way there is NO damage to the door itself I.e. Scratch, dent, etc...15% window tint, K&N cold air intake, I will include a 2nd K&N air filter, I swap them out when I clean them, custom x-pipe done by Lyon's Muffler & Brake in San Marcos, Ca., Flowmaster Super 44 series mufflers, new exhaust tips with resonator delete, I will include a Superchips performance tuner with instructions, Alpine CD player with HD radio, 6 disk CD changer, I will also include a car cover, rear tires are new at 50,000 miles, not from doing burn outs but because they were the original tires, front tires are worn on the sides, silver rear bumper inserts, 1 pair Michelin windshield wipers still in box, I also have 1 qt of Motorcraft 5W20 synthetic blend motor oil left over I'll leave in the trunk, it doesn't burn or leak oil I just always keep one in there, I bought the car in 2011 with 18,000 miles. 90% of the miles I put on are highway miles, honestly...San Diego - Fresno, Monterey - Fresno, drove to Las Vegas I think only once, and most recently Monterey, Ca - San Angelo, Tx, just had the 55,000 regular scheduled maintenance done at Jim Bass Ford and it got a clean bill of health other than the front tire wear, I'm in the military and am getting stationed in Hawaii, so I recently bought a Jeep Wrangler because I think it'll be more practical there, I didn't plan on selling this car though, therefor the original radio and air intake are in storage in California, I still owe on the car so my bank will mail you the title when it gets the check, you are responsible for arranging shipping if you're not local (San Angelo. TX.).

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Montego MX Brougham Sawzall Convertible Edition
Fri, Apr 21 2017You know how it goes— the weather is warm, you want to do some top-down driving, and you lack a proper convertible... but you do have a hooptie Detroit car on one side of the garage and a big ol' Sawzall on the other. Put the two together and you have a Sawzall Convertible, which generally lasts for about one summer before it gets scrapped. Here's a fine example of such a car, photographed in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service junkyard. Most Sawzall Convertibles (yes, it should be called a roadster, but nobody does that) have raw, ragged metal edges, or maybe duct tape over the stumps of the amputated pillars, but someone went to the trouble to weld nice smooth metal covers over the hackage on this one. The windshield is gone. Instead, the windshield frame is ringed by tongue depressors held in place by gooey roofing tar. No, we don't know why. The Montego MX Brougham was a hot-selling personal luxury coupe in its day, selling for $3,041 in 1973. That's just under $17,000 in 2017 dollars. It must have been fun, cruising this thing on Bay Area streets with no roof and a rattle-can spray-bomb job. This one has the optional 400-cubic-inch V8 engine, rated at 171 horsepower. What would this car's original buyer have thought of its fate? This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall
Tue, Apr 7 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.
Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!
