Mercury Grand Marquis on 2040-cars
Saint Augustine, Florida, United States
This vehicle was purchased from an estate with 89K miles on it. I have driven it aprox. 4K miles maintenance free. I have traveled in it to NC, WVA and GA and have had no issues with it. This car is loaded to the gills and has been owned by an elderly couple, he died in 2010 and it was placed in her name. The A/C is climate control and will freeze you out. One of the issues I have seen with the car is the fact they never used the windows and the armatures are rust covered and you have to assist them just a bit. Once worked for awhile im sure they will be fine. The window regulator on the drivers window I believe is bad. This is a pretty car with very minimal wear on it, paint is in great shape, trunk deck has some tree sap on it but I have most of that off. The tires are new and a full size spare, with steel wheel. The wheels on the car are aluminum and in good shape. This has been a non smoking car. Carpet good with what looks to be still the original floor mats. s vehicle has a complete digital cluster in it, all in working order. Every now and then the alt light will come on and then goes off in about 3 min. I have had battery and alt checked out and no problems. This vehicle has P/S P/B P/WIN PWR SEATS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER,PWR/MIRRORS REAR WIND DEF PWR DOOR LOCKS LEATHER SEATS FRONT AND BACK 60/40 IN FRONT WITH ARM REST FULL CARPET WITH SOUND BARRIER A/C WITH CLIMATE CONTROL ALL IN WORKING ORDER Cruise control While driving this vehicle the cluster stated it was getting 31 MPG , when I filled it up it was 30 MPG on the road, never checked in town fuel mileage. This would make a good primary car, or a good car for the kids or wife, most kids refuse to drive a boat this size so I have purchase a older cavalier for my daughter, now she is happy and im hung with a car I don't need. Located in Northern Florida, I would drive this car anywhere in the US. 500.00 deposit required with in 24 hrs. of being awarded the bid. Vehicle is being advertised locally, auction can be ended at sellers choice. |

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.
What do you do with a fake Bugatti Veyron for $60k?
Tue, Mar 29 2016Replica cars are a challenging labor of love because builders spend countless hours recreating a vehicle that people immediately compare to the real thing. Perhaps, the person behind this Mercury Cougar-based Bugatti Veyron should look for another way to pass that time. The coupe is currently for sale on eBay Motors for $59,900. The builder deserves some credit because the fiberglass body looks acceptable in the photos from farther away. The car might even fool a few people from a distance. However, the devil is in the details, and the closer you look, the worse this gets. The side intakes are especially rough. The red interior is atrocious. It's essentially the Cougar's cabin but in an eye-searing shade accented with lots of fake carbon fiber. The seller's eBay Motors ad really tries to market the look, though. "You slide in to [sic] this extremely comfortable leather interior and you feel like your bank account just quadrupled in size," the listing says. Don't expect to win any top speed titles in this Veyron replica, either. Rather than a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16, a 3.0-liter V6 from a Mercury Sable sits at the front. Thanks to an upgraded intake and exhaust, the seller claims, "It doesn't sound like your grandmas [sic] Sable." We wish the seller the best of luck, but the asking price of nearly $60,000 is probably too optimistic. We would still think twice about buying it even after taking a zero off that figure, but at least this thing is fun to look at. Related Video:
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
