  • BRAND NEW HEADLIGHTS (No Fogging!)
  • WHITEWALL TIRES REPLACED JULY 2013
  • 19 MONTHS LEFT ON THE "85-MONTH" INTERSTATE BATTERY

The BAD News:

  • NEEDS TUNE-UP (Misses & Backfiring)
  • A/C NEEDS CHARGING
  • LEATHER FRONT SEATS WORN
  • LEFT REAR ELECTRIC WINDOW INOPERATIVE (May simply be off track)
    NEEDS CATALYTIC CONVERTER (Driver Side)
  • NEEDS LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM)
  • NEEDS BALL-JOINT REPAIR (Passenger Side)
  • RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF IN MOM'S DRIVEWAY (Tie Rod?)

CAR WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED. (Starts & Runs)

The car's mileage and several repairs made another car the wiser investment for Mom.

If you do your own work, this car is a very nice foundation

and for about $600 in parts you'll have a handsome, roadworthy luxury ride.

The headlights, taillights & wheels alone are worth $500, so please don't offer salvage prices

(We still need to pay for Mom's next car.)

I don't want to see this car retired

She cleans up nicely and runs well when at herself.

For a fair price, I'd like to see this car find a nurturing owner and make it to 25 or more.

Many parts interchangeable with Ford Crown Victoria.

I CAN E-MAIL MANY PHOTOGRAPHS.  Just ask.

Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls

Tue, 04 Nov 2014

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
