2005 Mercury Grand Marquis Ultimate Edition Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Clearwater, Florida, United States
This is a one owner Florida car with 15,471 Actual Miles. I am selling this car for a good friend whose wife passed about 3 years ago and he has decided to sell her car. The title is still in the name of the original owner and you will be buying the car from the private owner. The car has every option except navigation and sunroof and everything works as it should. The leather interior is almost like new. The paint is all original and is in excellent condition. The tires are Michelin and are original. This coach roof on this car was replaced two weeks ago because of some light discoloration of the original cloth. Car has all original manuals along with 2 sets of keys and remotes. Car has a clean CarFax. This is one of the last of these body styles and this car still drives like it did when it came off the showroom floor. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping but I will assist any way that I can from my end. I require a deposit of $2000 within 48 hours of auction end and the balance within a week. For any other questions call Don at 727-430-9452. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION

Kit Cat: Mercury Cougar makes perfect Bugatti Veyron substitute
Thu, 24 Feb 2011Bugatti Veyron kit car - Click above for high-res image gallery
If you've got a pulse in your wrist and a snapping brain cell in your head, chances are you wouldn't mind parking a Bugatti Veyron in your garage. But for most mere mortals, scrounging up the cash for a physics-bending piece of 16-cylinder glory would require all sorts of unpalatable tasks. Fortunately for those who want to look the part without having to participate in human trafficking, the kit car universe has stepped in to save the day. All you need is a 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar, a boat load of fiberglass and a little patience.
Oh, and $89,000.
Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?
Fri, Oct 23 2015In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
