This is a NO RESERVE listing.

This is my 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis GS sedan with only 88,134 original miles.

The Grand Marquis is the twin of the Ford Crown Victoria.  These cars have been the workhorses of nationwide police and taxi fleets for the past 20 years.  The reason why is because these are some of the most durable, long-lasting cars ever built.  These cars easily accumulate 300,000 or 400,000 miles under abusive conditions.  This car, with only 88,000 careful miles, is barely broken in.

This car has been exceptionally well cared-for and maintained since new and it is in superb condition.

This Grand Marquis has the following equipment and options:
  • 4.6L V8
  • automatic transmission
  • leather upholstery
  • power driver's seat
  • A/C (blows cold)
  • cruise control
  • tilt steering wheel
  • power adjustable pedals
  • traction control/ABS brakes
  • power locks and windows
  • keyless entry
  • AM/FM cassette and CD player
This Grand Marquis runs and drives perfectly.  The engine starts and runs smoothly and has plenty of power.  The transmission shifts perfectly and the brakes, steering and suspension are tight and responsive.  There are zero known mechanical or electrical problems.  Everything works just like it should. I would not hesitate to take this car on a cross-country trip.

The tires have excellent tread.

The interior of this car is clean and in great condition.  This car has never been smoked in.  The leather, carpets and upholstery are clean and in superb condition.  The interior shows no wear and it looks excellent and clean in every way.

The exterior, paint and body are clean and in great shape.  The body of this car is solid, clean and very nice.  The paint is in very good shape with no major faults or flaws.  There have been no known accidents.  This car looks very good in every way.

With only 88,000 miles, this Grand Marquis has 300,000 or so miles of life left.  This is a loaded car that is economical, dependable and reliable with great features and options.

This car is a 2004, not a brand new car.  Please expect normal issues of wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. There is some wear on the front leather seat under the center armrest. There are a few brush-touched exterior nicks, paint chips, scratches, dings, etc.

This is a no reserve listing but I have a number in my head that would buy the car early.  Please call me to discuss.

You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home.  Alternatively you can have the car shipped, please call Angels Moving Autos at 530-245-0481 for a shipping quote.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Does Lincoln Zephyr trademark mean a return to real names?

Wed, May 25 2016

Lincoln's long history includes many legendary names, and despite its short life, Zephyr retains a spot in that pantheon. Perhaps its will return once again: Ford Motor Co. applied to trademark Zephyr on May 11. Trademark filings can have ambiguous meanings, and often they're legal plays to get or keep the rights to a name. But in the last year, we've seen signs Lincoln is looking to use real names on its vehicles again. Obviously, it's keeping Navigator for its flagship sport-utility vehicle with a new model due next year. Reprising Continental for the MKS replacement was also well received. That said, Lincoln still uses the MKX and MKC "names" for its crossovers. Zephyr is a dustier moniker. It was used in the 1930s and '40s on a mid-level model spearheaded by Edsel Ford. The stylishly aerodynamic model was set between the Ford V8 De Luxe and more expensive Lincolns. It returned in 2006 as the Lincoln version of the Ford Fusion before that model was renamed MKZ. Mercury also used Zephyr on its version of the Ford Fairmont in the late 1970s and early '80s. Ford last held a trademark on the Zephyr name in 2013. The filing says Ford seeks to use Zephyr for "motor vehicles and parts and accessories therefor." That could mean a new car — or just parts. Putting the Zephyr badge back on the MKZ is the most likely bet. Meanwhile, Ford also moved to get the Thunderbird trademark on May 11 for the same vehicles and parts purpose, and it filed for the Mustang trademark for shampoo and lotions on May 4. A Lincoln spokesman said, "In the normal course of our business, we file trademarks for names," but had no further information. Related Video:

Ford recalls over 953,000 vehicles to replace Takata airbag inflators

Fri, Jan 4 2019

DETROIT — Ford is recalling more than 953,000 vehicles worldwide to replace Takata passenger airbag inflators that can explode and hurl shrapnel. The move includes over 782,000 vehicles in the U.S. and is part of the largest series of recalls in U.S. history. Included are the 2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 2010 and 2011 Ford Ranger, the 2010 to 2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan, and the 2010 to 2014 Ford Mustang. Some of the recalls may be limited to specific geographic areas of the U.S. Takata used the chemical ammonium nitrate to create an explosion to inflate airbags. But it can deteriorate over time due to heat and humidity and explode with too much force, blowing apart a metal canister designed to contain the explosion. At least 23 people have been killed worldwide and hundreds injured by the inflators. Ford says it doesn't know of any injuries in vehicles included in this recall. Dealers will replace the inflators. Ford will notify owners about the recall starting on Feb. 18, and the company has replacement parts available for dealers to order, said spokeswoman Monique Brentley. In previous Takata recalls, parts availability had been an issue. Owners can go to this Ford website and key in their vehicle identification number to see if their cars and SUVs are being recalled. The same information will be available soon at the NHTSA recall website. More than three years after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration took over management of recalls involving Takata inflators, one third of the recalled inflators still have not been replaced, according to an annual report from the government and a court-appointed monitor. The report says 16.7 million faulty inflators out of 50 million under recall have yet to be replaced. And 10 million more inflators are scheduled to be recalled this month, including the Ford vehicles. Safety advocates said the completion rate should be far higher given the danger associated with the inflators. The recalls forced Takata of Japan to seek bankruptcy protection and sell most of its assets to pay for the fixes. The inflators grow more dangerous as they get older because ammonium nitrate deteriorates due to high humidity and cycles from hot temperatures to cold. The most dangerous inflators are in areas of the South along the Gulf of Mexico that have high humidity. Related Video:
