For Sale is My 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. I have done most of the work on the vehicle myself. I'm pretty handy, especially with a Haynes Manual (which I will include) and YouTube. I have replaces the: Intake Manifold, all four shock absorbers, plugs and wires 6mo ago, thermostat, main upper radiator hose, Serpentine belt, alternator, and all the normal maintenance parts due to wear and tear. This has been my daily driver since I purchased it used in 2007 or so. I have taken decent mechanical care of it as shown by the 23 MPG's avg. I am currently enjoying. It is now parked waiting for it's next owner. I have a new job 90 miles round trip from my home and I need better gas mileage. So this car must go. Take a look at the pictures and see it is in pretty good shape for an 18 year old car. The defects are as follows: broken front left marker light, small puncture in left rear bumper and left rear tail light. anti-lock brakes need work but brakes work fine, needs front ball joint boot, one rooter needs to be replaced (slightly warped, can't tell until hard breaking), A/C needs modulator, leather seats have tears, headliner tears. needs two window motors (front and rear drivers side). All minor repairs for someone with a little know how. The A/C modulator is a $70 item but the labor for a mechanic is $600. The dash has to be partially removed. I don't want to do this for a car I'm going to sell. It would take me a day to do it (this included breaks to eat take tv breaks and play with my daughter and dog). Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags
Wed, Jun 1 2016The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer.
