1990 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park Wagon, Ls Trim, Leather, Rear Jump Seats on 2040-cars
Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
This week Canyon State Classics presents a beautiful 1990 Mercury Colony Park in great condition inside and out. This car was bought new in March of 1990 in Palmdale, Ca by its original owner who owned it until traded in with 54,000 miles in 2012. The car ended up for sale at Peoria Ford who put the car through their shop and sold it to the second owner here in Phoenix. The car has been driven only 700 miles in the last 2 years and has always been garaged! This wagon is fully loaded and in excellent condition. Don't miss your chance to own a true time capsule...bid now! The following is a list of options as this Mercury is currently equipped: -5.0L V8 Engine -Automatic Transmission w/ Overdrive -Power Windows -Power Door Locks -Power Tailgate Window -Optional Rear Jumpseats -Cruise Control -Automatic Headlamps -Ice Cold Air Conditioning -Am/Fm Radio Cassette w/ Premium Sound Option -Power Antenna -Power Seats -Optional Mercury Alloy Wheels -Michelin White Wall Tires The exterior on this car is straight as an arrow and totally solid. The paint on the car is finished in gorgeous original color of Midnight Black. This car is a totally solid, rust free car, and obviously never saw snow or salt. The underside of the rockers, quarters, fenders, and floor boards are solid as a rock, and the wheel wells look so clean, just the way a low mileage car should. All correct trim and emblems are present and in great shape. The chrome is all as nice as the day it left the Mercury dealer. Another nice thing about this car is the gorgeous, original wood decals and trim. I like the look and think it gives the car a clean, classy look. All of the glass is original and the windshield is crack-free. The car rides on four 15" Michelin whitewall tires which still have plenty of tread. The car also still retains its correct wheels and center caps which gives the car a very nice look. The interior is all original and in very good condition. The original leather seats are extremely soft and supple and look like new. Door panels Dash, and carpet are all original and in perfect condition. The odometer currently shows only 54,000mi, which is stated to be Actual miles by the Arizona title. The gas and brake pedal show no wear. The seats are in excellent condition with almost no ware. Under the hood is spotless and all original decals look like new. Power windows, locks, seat, antenna, wipers, and defog work correctly. The climate control is working correctly and the A/C blows ICE COLD. The cargo area interior is like new condition and has all of the original paint and original jump which looks very nice. The space saver spare is also still aboard as well as the jack and all original tools. Mechanically, this Mercury runs GREAT! This car features the 5.0L 302ci V8 (Similar to the Mustang). This car always starts right up and shifts so smooth it is difficult to feel the transition between gears. As I said before this car has just been gone through at 54,000 miles by a local Ford dealer prior to being put for sale, and had fluids drained, tuned up, belts and hoses checked, battery checked and the transmission and A/C serviced to make this car 100% roadworthy. Under the hood is very clean and all original. Even all the original yellow stamps are in place to show that there has been to tampering or re-paints. There is also original chalk marks visible in several locations. The car is also totally tight as a drum, with no fluid leaks whatsoever. The car tracks straight and rides and drives just like a new Mercury should! The car includes two sets of original keys, spare tire, jacking equipment, and the original manuals and dealer brochure. All in all, this is one of the nicest and most original Colony Park wagons left in existence. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners. These early 90?s era vehicles are becoming more and more collectible as the older ones disappear into collections, especially well maintained, super low mileage, cars like this. This Grand Marquis is the kind of condition you can enjoy every day or save it as an investment because with the kind of condition it is and its classic body lines, it is now and will forever be a classic. This car has a clean Arizona Title. Any further questions please call Jon at 480-703-2337. The car is located in Sunny Scottsdale, AZ! Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.
Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been
Fri, Oct 30 2015A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry – there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO – so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 – barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong – new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.
NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
